Qatar Racing have enjoyed several eventful occasions since their inception in 2012 and none more so than winning the Qipco 2000 Guineas with Kameko in 2020.
The racing subsidiary of Qipco Holdings, their first Classic Triumph came with Just The Judge in the Irish 1000 Guineas in 2013 and the flag has been flown in regal manner in recent season by the likes of the ill-fated Roaring Lion and the aforementioned Kameko at the highest level on domestic shores.
Qipco had the dream start to their sponsorship of the Guineas Festival in 2011 when a certain Frankel obliterated his rivals in the 2000 Guineas on the Rowley Mile and three days of fantastic sport beckon on track at HQ this weekend.
The hope of a “home” victory this time will be with the James Ferguson-trained Mise En Scene who takes her place in the Qipco 1000 Guineas on Sunday but there will be several others in the Qatar team that will be adorning the claret and gold braid colours in the winner’s enclosure during the season with the Joseph O’Brien-trained Buckaroo also looking to join the Classic roster.
Qatar supremo David Redvers said: “We have some lovely three-year-olds like Mise En Scene and Buckaroo who are both homebreds but this season for Tweenhills is really about the two-year-olds and we have some lovely types by the wonderful Roaring Lion and Zoustar who are ready to roll. The Zoustars have been a sensation at the Breeze-Ups for good reason and we are hoping this is going to be a very exciting breakthrough season.”
David kindly talked to Tony Elves about the Qatar Racing team that will be in action throughout 2022.
