Chris Gordon has already matched last season’s total of 25 winners from only 86 runners this term and has a highly impressive strike rate of 29%.
Highlight of his recent sparkling run of form was a remarkable 462-1 treble at Haydock on the penultimate Saturday of November when Diamond Hunter took the Grade 2 Newton Novices, David’s Well landed the two-mile handicap chase and Electric Mason completed an incredible day with victory in the Betfair Stayers Handicap Hurdle.
The trio collected nearly £116,000 in prize money with Andashan adding £11,960 to the haul when finishing second to Kabral Du Mathan in the 2m3f handicap hurdle, with the added bonus of Chris’s son Freddie riding out his claim the same day.
Gordon said: ‘Thanks to all the team at home for their hard work, it was a very special day and it would have to be my best ever’. The Winchester trainer added: ‘It very special to have your son riding and he came to the end of 3lb claim on that day but it was a cracking day to do it.’
Below, Gordon kindly spoke to Tony Elves for attheraces.com about his team at Morestead Farm Stables in the search of more great days ahead.
