Brian Ellison enjoyed a timely boost to for his Jumps campaigners when Sam's Adventure displayed his battling qualities to take the coveted Vertem Eider Chase at Newcastle last week and the hopes are high in the Malton trainer's camp that the spring ground will bring a flurry of further winners his way.
Sam's Adventure delayed his return to summer grass with that success and heads for the Scottish National at Ayr now and there could be the Grand National beckoning for Definitly Red if he comes up to scratch in the Listed Premier Chase when he returns from a break at Kelso on Saturday.
Mrs Hyde has proved one of revelations of the season with a defeat of Nicky Henderson's Verdana Blue in a Listed Mares' Hurdle at Wetherby in October added to her CV and there look several likely contenders in the Spring Cottage Stables camp that serious swell the current total of 16 winners.
