The Richard Fahey operation have had a flying start to the season once again and that good run can continue here with DARK LANE. Knocking on the door on the all-weather at the start of the year, he returns to turf on a 5lb lower mark than for his last success and can gain a deserved victory at the chief expense of Even Bolder. The latter filled the runner-up spot off this mark over 5f here last week and should appreciate the step back up in trip. Silver Wind completes the shortlist.
Stevie Gee gained his last success over 6f on fast ground with headgear on for the first time and he makes plenty of appeal now back under the same conditions with blinkers on for the first time this year. Even Bolder and Gwilym are a couple of others to consider.

Richard Hannon has won this race twice in the last three years, including with the smart Zebedee 12 months ago, and he has strong claims again with LORD OFTHE SHADOWS. Having cost 70,000gns as a yearling, he showed plenty of ability when staying on for second over C&D seven days ago and can go one better with that experience under his belt. The other two with a racecourse outing under their belt, Aquasulis and Middleton Flyer, showed little of note so the selection may have most to fear from a newcomer. Safari Storm and Serious Spender are interesting but Courtland King represents a David Evans team that has been amongst the juvenile winners already this term and looks the pick of those having their first run.
Lord Ofthe Shadows might have bumped into a Royal Ascot type when second here last week and should go one better here. Courtland King and Safari Storm are a couple of newcomers who appeal.

Baylini returns to turf off a 9lb lower mark than when scoring in good style over 1m at Kempton earlier this month and must be considered. She is clearly better on polytrack, however, and it could pay to take a chance on KAY GEE BE, now rated 2lb lower than winning at Ascot last summer and having his first run for the in-form Richard Fahey today. Rezwaan is on a hat-trick after wins at Kempton but his only turf success came on soft ground.
Kay Gee Be is better than this grade at his best and is worth chancing in the expectation that a change of stable will prove beneficial. Bramshaw goes well fresh and looks next best ahead of Baylini, who returns to turf in very good form.

Sir Michael Stoute won this race three times in the last eight years so his Crystal Etoile, who showed signs of ability when sixth over 7f on her debut at Newbury in September, warrants the utmost respect. Mrs Dee Bee, Lunar Phase and IZZI TOP also showed positive signs in their sole juvenile outings and preference is for the latter, a massive eye-catcher when narrowly held by a stablemate in a 1m Doncaster maiden in the autumn. He wasn't given a hard time by his pilot that day and the form has been franked by the third, fourth and eighth since.
Izzi Top looks a filly to follow after her debut second and can go one better. Shelovestobouggie and Crystal Etoile are a couple of other likely improvers from top yards.

A wide-open event, in which significant market support should be heeded, but there is plenty to like about the chances of INFORMED REWARD. He didn't get the clearest of runs on his debut over C&D a week ago but finished well to claim third (May Contain Nuts ninth) when switched into the clear late on and he should have much more to offer with that experience under his belt. Herny Cecil's Aldedash is another that can put his debut experience to good use, along with Laughing Jack and Musical Flight, while Native Colony could prove the pick of the newcomers for the in-form Roger Varian.
Several that can be given a chance and not easy to choose between them given that all are open to improvement, but Laughing Jack gets the vote with his debut form looking strong and his yard being in excellent form. Aldedash and Informed Award may fill the places, though Nibani is also respected.

BAHARAT was narrowly denied a hat-trick over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton recently and, with this sterner test of stamina expected to suit, he will be tough to beat if transferring his all-weather form to turf. It would be no surprise to see First Battalion and Dressing Room improve now sent handicapping but the biggest threat may be Whodathought, in good heart on polytrack in the winter and a winner off 3lb higher when last seen on turf in September.
First Battalion appeals as the type to do better this year and this looks a good starting point for him. Baharat and Dressing Room are others to consider.
