It's difficult to get away from YANWORTH. Alan King's star gelding comes out well ahead on official figures, he hasn't put a foot wrong in both starts so far this season and ought to be winning this en route to a crack at next month's Champion Hurdle - a race for which he is currently as short as 7/2. It is interesting to see first-time cheekpieces equipped and, if they can eke out further improvement, he will be a force to be reckoned with in all the top hurdle races this season and beyond. Ch'tibello is 4lb better off for a five-and-a-half length defeat at the hands of the favourite in the Christmas Hurdle and he could put up most resistance, while Sceau Royal has a definite chance on early season form but he was disappointing on similarly testing ground in the Fighting Fifth last time.

Amantius was below par on his most recent outing when down the field at Southwell but arguably has much better form going right handed so has to be respected back at a track he won at over C&D two outings ago. Madame Lafite would have gone very close had she not been brought down two out at Leicester and a 2lb higher mark won't be of inconvenience but preference goes to ARDEN DENIS, who improved when third at Lingfield last time and should benefit from the drop back in distance.
