Willie Mullins has a host of strong contenders across both Irish meetings and can start the new year on a good note with EL FABIOLO. The Spanish Moon gelding was third in a Listed contest at Auteuil last year on his only hurdles start in France and is the choice of Paul Townend ahead of stablemate Tempo Chapter Two. The latter showed he could handle this track when winning a bumper in October and was fourth in a quite a strong maiden hurdle at Gowran on his most recent outing. With a rating of 104, Hide And Seek is unlikely to be good enough but can get into the money after finishing third in a mares' maiden at Thurles. Freddie Robdal also represents Henry de Bromhead and is another to consider for place purposes after a pleasing fourth on hurdles debut at Navan.

ROPED IN looks a winner in waiting after a couple of good runs behind the remarkable Glenquin Castle. The full-sister to Munster National winner Ontheropes caught the eye when staying on to be third at Galway in October before not being as effective when sixth to Martin Brassil's winning machine at Punchestown. Those races were over 3m but this will still be a test of stamina given the underfoot conditions. Corrigaleen, who showed ability in bumpers, ran her best race so far over hurdles when third at Punchestown over this trip. She is unlikely to be far away while another who showed more last time is Indie Belle, who was fifth on testing ground at this course last month in a race won by a progressive sort who ran well in defeat at Limerick during the week.

The puzzle to solve is who will finish second because AL BOUM PHOTO is impossible to oppose as he bids for four in a row in this contest. The dual Gold Cup winner lost his crown at Cheltenham in March but still ran a good race behind Minella Indo as he did when chasing home Clan Des Obeaux at Punchestown. Barring a mishap this should be a straightforward task. Acapella Bourgeois was 19 lengths behind the selection a year ago but went on to beat Burrows Saint in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse. He can confirm form with the former Irish Grand National winner and could be the one for the forecast again as Brahma Bull, a remote third in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury, would prefer a longer trip.

YOUNG FITZY was never a factor at Limerick on Wednesday but perhaps that race served its purpose and a chance is taken that his jumping holds up on chase debut. He was running well when tipping up a couple of times in point-to-points and was in good form over hurdles in the autumn when the first of his two victories came at this venue. By contrast, That's Lifebuoy ran well when fourth over hurdles at Limerick and she has plenty of experience over fences. She was second in a 2m6f contest here in the summer but this trip is shorter than her optimum. Top Line Tommy doesn't convince with his jumping technique and Getaway Katie, who made late headway into fifth at Clonmel, may be next best.

James Dullea is always a trainer to have on your side at Tramore and SATIN SUN looks poised to gain a first success. The daughter of Mahler was touched off over hurdles on this card a year ago and the form of her fourth over fences at Gowran last time has worked out well with the second and third both hitting the target subsequently. Lessofdnegativity, whose jumping let him down at Limerick, was the horse that foiled the selection a year ago and he again showed his liking for this course when beating Arctic Ambition over fences in early December. The latter is trained by in-form Robert Tyner and may fare best of the pair this time. Presenting Point is another who boasts a good track record and he was pipped by the narrowest of margins at Thurles before Christmas.
