The daughter of Beat Hollow won a bumper here last season and is entitled to strip fitter for her hurdling/seasonal bow at Ffos Las last month. Quiet Candid, a point-to-point winner, must be respected on her first start over hurdles, while Barrs Lane rates best of the rest.

Watch out for: Quiet Candid (9)

Ballyhollow was the best of these in bumpers and probably won't have to step up much on last month's hurdling debut third to get off the mark here. Nicky Henderson's Quiet Candid may be next best, particularly if a hood helps her to settle down a bit, though Glenariff also achieved enough in bumpers to suggest she could figure in a race like this now hurdling.

LE GRAND CHENE is something of a course specialist and arrives buoyed by his success over 2m6f here 17 days ago. Sophie Leech's inmate won a C&D handicap on heavy ground on Boxing Day last year, so shouldn't be inconvenienced by a softer surface, and the eight-year-old has been found another winnable opportunity. I Know The Code is likely to put up most resistance if he picks up from where he left off at Hexham in March, while Carhue Princess rates best of the rest.

He was well beaten in a competitive handicap contest at Down Royal last time, but he justified favouritism in a beginners' chase at Downpatrick the time before that and is expected to have enough class here. ROYALE KNIGHT bolted up in the Durham National last month and lines up off the same mark reverting to hurdles for this assignment. The eight-year-old has clearly come forward for his Chepstow reappearance in September and he can follow up his latest demolition job at the North Yorkshire track. Chavoy finished a creditable third at Hexham latest and is another to consider switching to the hurdles scene, while Jaunty Journey warrants respect too.

The hat-trick seeking American Life has his optimum conditions and a 3 lb rise for his latest hard-fought success is fair enough, so he demands consideration again, but at the likely prices, it can pay to risk the fitness of Chavoy on his return to action. WICKLEWOOD beat the reopposing Beauchamp Viking by five lengths over C&D in May and is expected to confirm his superiority over that rival. The Mujahid gelding has since won here over 2m4f and can be forgiven his latest Newton Abbot flop given this is clearly a track that sparks him into life. The Informant boasts claims based on his Plumpton form of last season, while Grand Article is feasibly treated off 77 and he's a track and trip winner.

Defying a penalty in these events is never easy, but BIG JIM ran out an impressive nine-length winner over this C&D on his debut and he has the size and scope to repeat the dose under the extra weight. Big Mike flopped at Catterick when last seen in February but had previously gone well on his introduction over that track and trip and is dangerous to overlook on his reappearance. Brendan Powell is one from one is this sphere this season and market support for his Lettheriverrundry would have to be taken seriously.
