It is interesting that Tom Scudamore has a collection of rides here with most of the top jockeys plying their trade at Aintree. He could make a winning start to his day here having dismissed his Pond House boss' Carqalin in favour of TAURIAN, who is a distance winner and made an encouraging return to hurdles at Exeter having been tried on the all-weather. Mount Shamsan could still have more to come, racing off the same mark as his second at Stratford last time, while Berry De Carjac warrants a second look running for the in-form Nigel Hawke.
TAURIAN should appreciate the emphasis on speed that this sharp track on likely quick ground will provide and she can build on the promise of her hurdling debut win for an in-form yard. Berry de Carjac also hails from a yard that has been going well for some time and he might be able to return to form back from a break, while Windy Writer is another who could be in the mix back in a handicap.

GARO DE JUILLEY has failed to live up to the lofty reputation he came over from France with so far in his novice hurdling career but this looks a prime opportunity to land his first victory for the Ditcheat maestro Paul Nicholls. His former protegee Harry Fry's Old Harry Rocks may be the most likely challenger, while former pointer field Daylami Days could be the best of the Philip Hobbs pair and is respected on his Rules debut.
GARO DE JUILLEY may have had something ailing him up to now, having reportedly bled on his penultimate start and carrying his head awkwardly last time, but there's a good chance those issues have been resolved during the couple of months he's been off the track and he's already achieved a reasonable level of form, so he's taken to get off the mark at the expense of the promising Old Harry Rocks.

Milord was a comfortable victor here last time out but has been hit with a 5lb rise for that which makes this a whole lot tougher and his amateur pilot is now swapped for Mikey Hamill in the saddle. Daklondike has a chance, despite being well beaten last time, now dropped 2lb while Muthabir is a consistent type also worthy of consideration. However, if you can forgive his disappointing effort when pulled up latest, a chance is taken on previous course and distance winner LAUGHARNE, who returns to the scene of his latest triumph only 1lb higher, enjoys good ground and won't lack for assistance in the saddle with Leighton Aspell booked to take the ride.
DAKLONDIKE appealed as a really promising type before a disappointing handicap debut at this course a couple of months ago and, given his pointing background, there's every chance he can resume progress now hiked up in distance. Stealing Mix and The Last But One, handicap debutants from excellent stables, make the most appeal of the remainder.

Understandably, Paul Nicholls' charge came out second best in that two-runner event, but now taking on weaker opposition he may be able to take a forward step back over hurdles. Phobiaphiliac is closely matched with recent course second Qualando on their best hurdles form and is worth a market check.

HIGH HATTON has been in good form in the point-to-point scene, winning the last twice, and is expected to give a good account of himself now returned to racing under Rules. Jepeck lost little in defeat when second in a hunter chase at Towcester last time out and is the one expected to put up most resistance. Big runs from in-form pointers Moral Hazard and Mr Raj are also anticipated.
JEPECK shaped promisingly when runner-up on his Towcester hunter debut in March and looks the one to beat. Recent dual point scorer High Hatton has performed with credit on all 3 starts in hunters and may provide the main threat ahead of Mr Raj.
