PILLARD must concede 10lb to the field on his British debut, but Jonjo O'Neill's French recruit created a good impression when winning a similar juvenile contest at Vichy in August and connections have secured the services of Richard Johnson. Master Of Speed, a course winner on the Flat and fifth behind Golden Horn on his racecourse debut at Nottingham, is the potential fly in ointment on his hurdles bow for the in-form Gary Moore, but both Burner and Sneaking Budge will need to step up.

Watch out for: Master Of Speed (3)

PILLARD has to concede 10 lb all round as a result of his win in France but this still looks a good opportunity for him to make a winning start to life with his new stable. The obvious main threat is likely to come from Master of Speed, who showed plenty of ability on the Flat and has joined a yard with an outstanding record here this season.

Willie Mullins boasts a strong hand courtesy of Gitane Du Berlais and Petite Parisienne and both line up boasting sound claims. The former won the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novices' Chase here 12 months ago and the switch to hurdles may spark a rejuvenated performance, while the latter is a dual Grade 1 winner over timber and finished fifth in a warm renewal of last season's Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. POLLY PEACHUM finished a head second in the Grade One Mares' Hurdle at Prestbury Park and sets the standard bringing a mark of 150 to the table. She could only manage second behind Morello Royale over the extended 3m trip at Kempton on her seasonal bow but is taken to reverse those placings with that run under her belt and now dropped in distance.

Ultragold ran a creditable fourth in a better race at Ascot when last sighted and is another to take seriously, but FAIRY RATH won this 12 months ago off 7lb lower and can repeat the dose on ground that will play to his strengths on the back of an admirable effort in defeat at Doncaster. Vic De Touzaine and Toowoomba, a ready winner at Warwick latest, are also given a chance.

VIC DE TOUZAINE shaped with bags of promise when going close on his chase bow at Fontwell in December. ARTHUR'S OAK returned from a layoff with a facile success at Haydock last week and the 15lb hike looks fully justified as he bids for the hat-trick. The Venetia Williams-trained gelding is open to further progress and could make match fitness count over Just Cameron, a promising novice last year who chased home Un De Sceaux when last seen at Punchestown in the spring and may be well treated on his return. Grey Gold and Pearls Legend have both gone up 6lb for scoring last time out and must be respected.

Agrapart and Cyrius Moriviere both won well last time and look to be exciting prospects but they need to up their game massively to win this. YORKHILL is likely to be a short-priced favourite, which he is fully entitled to be having won well on hurdles debut at Punchestown. He may not be the best 2m novice hurdler Willie Mullins has but he is likely to be too classy for these. O O Seven looks to be the main danger on his defeat of a stablemate over C&D last month and that form was boosted when the runner-up won at Newbury in the week. Welsh Shadow was mocked by Yanworth at Exeter and he won a moderate Listed race next time out, he was getting weight from the principles that day and will need to improve to beat Yorkhill.

Reaping The Reward looks likely to start a worthy favourite following an encouraging comeback run at Doncaster last month, he is also significantly better off at the weights with Aachen who beat him, also at the Yorkshire track, back in February. Benbens won a qualifier for this at Aintree in October and would be dangerous to discount from just 4lb higher. RELAX would have needed his first run of the season in the London National, his last win came over C&D on heavy ground and the Venetia Williams yard is in great form at the moment. Soll beat the selection last season but is now high enough in the weights, while Knock A Hand could go well at a price now he is down to his last winning mark.

A really good field for the Final of this veterans' series. RENARD was just simply too exuberant for his own good on very testing ground on his Carlisle reappearance but went for a long way as if retaining all his ability and the handicapper has taken a chance dropping him a further 4 lb. Reaping The Reward, Benbens, Tullamore Dew and Soll head the many dangers in what promises to be a cracker.
