Peter Maher saddles five as he looks to retain the prize Mtada Supreme won last year, and despite the defending champion's respectable course and distance claims, point winner An Rinceoir Alainn and Ballyboker Bridge may give the handler a better chance. Enda Bolger has won eight of the last 10 renewals of this and relies on My Hometown to enhance that reputation, while Grade 1 winner Ballycasey is easily the best horse in the race and could turn this into a procession if thriving in this new discipline. Hurricane Darwin was second over this track and trip behind Josies Orders at the Punchestown Festival and is respected. However, preference is for FULL CRY, who was a game fourth in the Munster National last time and would arguably have finished closer if not hampered at the second last.

The Holy One is interesting on his handicap debut and will have appreciated his recent Down Royal reappearance. It is noteworthy that Robbie Power has chosen the Court Cave gelding, who was third in a hot novice contest at the Punchestown Festival. However, preference is for stablemate JETEZ, who ran too badly to be true over 2m4f at Roscommon last time and is of serious interest back at two miles. He was a winner at the distance the time before at Limerick beating Storm Rising, with that rival two from two since switching to Dr Richard Newland in October, and the highly regarded five-year-old has some smart form amongst decent opposition from novice contests last season. Hearts Are Trumps produced two fine efforts at Punchestown last month and is respected, with the Willie Mullins pair Makitorix and Eoline Jolie also noted.

Samcro was disappointing on reappearance when second at Down Royal and although he should have come on markedly for the run, he has plenty to prove over this distance at this level. Faugheen looked at home over three miles when landing the Champion Stayers Hurdle at this venue and he was gambled on during the week, suggesting that he is ready for this test first time out. Tombstone won over fences last time but has been frustrating to follow in recent months, and the door could be open for SUPASUNDAE to strike. Jessica Harrington's charge beat Faugheen at Leopardstown over this trip back in February, and the eight-year-old should appreciate this drying ground under Robbie Power at a track where he is 2-4.

Brosna George has looked much better in two starts for the Arthur Moore yard (second and first so far) and could continue on an upwards trajectory off just 5lb higher, while course winner Arctic Light is rarely out of the frame at this sort of level but does look handicapped to his best. The Big Dog was fourth in a decent bumper at Leopardstown last Christmas before winning at Naas to frank the form in that sphere in January, while Cuneo did it well at Tramore in a bumper back in April and it is worth noting that connections opted to preserve his novice status specifically for this season. Both will have to be good to account for Cheltenham Champion Bumper winner RELEGATE, though, especially as she receives weight from the pair.
