Dickie Le Davoir has a good record here and has to be respected but he doesn't win all that often and a much stronger case can be made for TISLAAM, who was a comfortable winner at Kempton last week and armed with the plum draw today, could prove a tough nut to crack as he bids to follow up under a 6lb penalty. The in-form Anargic is another who was a winner last time and he can be expected to go well again along with Young Gladiator.
Dickie Le Davoir is still on a competitive mark and at a track he has gone well at in the past, so he looks the one to be with. Tislaam may have more to come for his new stable and is feared, whilst Bel Cantor could be perked up by a return to this track and a drop in the weights.

VALERIUS MAXIMUS followed his promising Windsor debut runners-up effort with another highly encouraging display when a solid third at York earlier this month and with the second from that heat since going on to score since, Paul Cole's colt looks a rock solid option to open his account today. Old Master Expert is another to have shaped well in two starts so far and he should be up to winning before too long with newcomer Be A Good Lady rating best of the rest.
Old Master Expert does need to put a slightly disappointing run behind him and he has been off the track for nearly 4 months, but his debut form reads very well in this field, and he is worth another chance to show what he can do. Valerius Maximus looks best of the rest, while an improved showing from Jay Jays Joy would come as no surprise.

Raleigh Quay shaped with much more promise when second at Hamilton last time and the booking of Philip Robinson takes the eye while the thoroughly consistent Honest Broker will be expected to make his presence felt once more. Recent Newcastle scorer Frontline Girl seems sure to prove popular again with Midwestern capable of coming back to form but, in a wide open heat, a chance is taken on DABBERS RIDGE who was a winner over this C&D two starts ago and remains feasibly treated on his old form.
Honest Broker is in good order at present and he did enough at Sandown last week to think he has a race like this in him. Raleigh Quay has to be on the shortlist after returning to form last time, whilst Frontline Girl and Rosbay are others to consider.

A few obvious candidates in another tricky looking affair but the lightly-raced ARDENT made a favourable impression when scooting clear to lose her maiden tag in impressive fashion at Doncaster last month and doesn't look to have been too harshly treated competing off an opening handicap mark of 82 today. With the John Gosden stable continuing in red hot form, she is taken to take another step up the ladder at the main expense of the consistent Gouray Girl, who was a good second at Goodwood last time, the highly tried Capercaillie and recent Redcar winner Esuvia.

Dan Buoy loves it around here but he has no margin for error off his current mark and preference is for RARE RUBY. The 6-y-o has been in really good heart throughout the summer and deserves plenty of credit for finishing a good third in a well contested handicap at York last time. She ought to stay this far and looks worth siding with again. Capable Guest has been knocking on the door of late and another big run will be expected from him, although his stamina over this trip is less assured and Fair Spin could prove a bigger threat following an eye-catching effort around here last time.

Mexican Jay is lightly raced and the suspicion remains that she is capable of better than we have seen so far, while Herostatus was well backed prior to his Doncaster debut and is entitled to improve plenty from that opening effort. A drop of rain wouldn't do Postman's chances any harm but he hasn't delivered of late and they will all have to go some to get the better of SCARAB, who was only narrowly edged out over this trip at Newcastle last time. Having dropped to an attractive looking rating at present, he looks worth siding with to go one better off the same mark today. Desert Hunter was a disappointment at Redcar last time but a return to form should see this C&D winner involved again.
