The 2m4f of the 'Auld Reekie' Handicap Chase proved a touch too far for RETURN TICKET here on New Year's Day, but can get back on track returned to two miles. Brian Hughes takes over in the saddle aboard the eight-year-old, who was a commanding winner over course and distance on his penultimate start. Rockadenn was unbeaten over fences in France and it is interesting that he tackles the larger obstacles on his first outing for Paul Nicholls, who has won the last three renewals of this. He has undergone wind surgery since joining the Ditcheat handler and the five-year-old knows what the winner's enclosure looks like. Defi Sacre is a consistent performer and the track-and-trip winner is only 3lb higher than his most recent success, while Rikoboy was a cosy winner at Market Rasen in December and can't be ignored despite a 13lb hike.

Le Breuil seems at his best over marathon trips, having finished third in the Becher Chase at Aintree and then filling the same spot in the Classic Chase at Warwick. He runs off the same mark as that latest effort here but has to give weight all round. Dino Bay did well to beat Classic Escape over this sort of trip at Kelso last time but Iain Jardine's charge reportedly benefited from going left-handed that day and is the other way round here, so preference is for THE FERRY MASTER. Sandy Thomson's gelding has been hugely impressive over fences this year, winning at Kelso and Newcastle in recent outings. He is climbing the ratings but could still prove tough to beat here. Bob Mahler won this race last year and finished third in the Kim Muir straight after, but has failed to complete in three starts this term.

ALCALA ran a solid enough race when ninth in the Foxhunter at the Cheltenham Festival when last seen and Paul Nicholls' grey could prove too classy for his rivals in this. Clondaw Westie ran well to score in a hunter chase at Ffos Las last spring but he was pulled up in a point-to-point last time, so perhaps Federici is a bigger danger.
