Mister Dillon improved from his commendable Cheltenham return to strike at Doncaster, but the runner-up did nothing for the form afterwards so a 7lb rise could find him out. Arctic Court beat Capellanus here in December (with Monetary Fund third), although the form was reversed on New Year's Day. Monetary Fund was also behind CROWNING JEWEL in the big fixed brush race at Haydock, where Keith Reveley's charge lost little in defeat in his biggest test to date, so he is fancied to regain the winning thread.

Gordon Elliott won this with Carlito Brigante a few years back and his Clarcam is another worthy contender after chasing home Guitar Pete in a Leopardstown Grade 2. He will do well to successfully concede weight to BROUGHTON, though, because the smart Flat handicapper made a smooth transition to this discipline when just touched off at Doncaster and he can force his way into the Triumph Hurdle reckoning. His stable companion Hawker is an interesting NH newcomer, but the biggest threat could come in the shape of Adeupas D'ycy, who found only the exciting Modus too strong in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham.

CALL BOX saw off Los Nadis by eight lengths over course and distance on New Year's Day and although he must reoppose on 10 worse terms, he is expected to confirm his superiority. Sud Pacifique hasn't been too far away on his last couple of appearances, although both runs have hinted that the assessor holds sway off his current perch. Scots Gaelic was a costly failure at Fakenham, with the favourite's tag hung on him after a third to Strongpoint here that offered some encouragement.
