BLACK SCHNAPPS moved well when filling the runner-up spot in a Salisbury maiden a fortnight ago and that form has since taken a boost. He will have learnt plenty from that first visit to the racecourse and should be more the wiser for the experience. Ed Dunlop's autumnal strike rate is respectable and Lifejacket is the mount of Ryan Moore on his racecourse introduction, while Lawman's Lady is also taken seriously.

Pretty difficult to get away from Black Schnapps who shaped with plenty of promise at Salisbury on debut and looks to have been found a good opportunity to break the maiden tag. Ujagar should be sharper with his Haydock debut under his belt and can go close, whilst the market should speak volumes for Ed Dunlop's Lifejacket on debut.

Syros cran well enough but couldn't justify favouritism at Redcar last time, so IRISH TEARS gets the verdict. The form of his Sandown third to Ensuring looks strong and John Gosden's inmate is open to further progression at this stage of his career.

This could prove an above average maiden with several of the big stables represented, and a chance is taken on Tree of Grace whose yard are renowned for debutant winners. FOUR WINDS impressively landed a mile claimer at Kempton last time and he could take some stopping if arriving in the same mood today. Along with the selection, Hornboy and Fluctuation are joint top-trated on 70 and both hold claims, but triple course winner Golden Desert rates the bigger threat following three bronze medal finishes in handicap company. Also in his favour is the booking of Richard Hughes.

Watch out for: Golden Desert (3)

Tricky stuff, for which the suggestion is Four Winds who was much better grade than this in his prime and whom appeared value for extra when landing a similar event at Kempton last time. Khajaaly for all he has struggled to win that often looks likely to again run his race, but the biggest threat may come in the shape of Hornboy who will find this much easier than the company he has kept of late.

CAFE SOCIETY shades the verdict in what looks a fiercely competitive handicap. A progressive sort, he was a massive eyecatcher when flying home from the back to finish fifth in a valuable class 2 handicap at Ascot (1m4f) last time and should mount a bold bid providing the hold-up tactics aren't exaggerated too much again. Jamie Spencer has won and been placed on the colt so they clearly get on well. The hat-trick seeking Evangelist commands respect for the Stoute/Moore team, while Nautilus and Plutocracy add further spice to the contest.

Watch out for: Evangelist (7)

This looks very competitive with most of these 3-y-os being progressive types. John Gosden holds a strong hand with Nautilus and Space Ship but preference is for Cafe Society, who was most unlucky at Ascot last month and still looks ahead of his mark.

DANA'S PRESENT seems to come into his own towards the end of the season, and his recent Doncaster success suggests he is in good heart and capable of getting on the premises again with just 1lb more to carry. Perfect Mission followed up his Salisbury success with a decent second over 7f at Brighton and shaped as if some extra yardage would help, while Juvenal might appreciate a return to a mile having failed to see out the trip last time.

In a race that won't take a lot of winning, the tentative vote goes to Juvenal who has fared respectably in claiming company of late, and could just represent some value back in handicap company. Dimitar and Perfect Mission also need considering.
