Zarakerjack was put in his place by a potentially useful sort over C&D last month and remains of considerable interest today, whilst both Brave Guest (second) and Tenadaay (third) could figure having squared off at Fontwell. Chartwell Jock was no slouch on the level and is worth a market check ahead of his hurdling bow, but the vote goes to MAESTRO CONTI. Picked up by the Skeltons having won impressively in France on his racecourse debut, the Prince Gibraltar gelding might be one to follow over the course of the season.
MAESTRO CONTI made a winning debut in France and that sets a high standard so he should be able to defy a penalty on his first start for a new yard. He needs to prove he handles a quicker surface but if doing so he can defeat Whatsgoingonmarvin who won 3 times over middle to staying distances on the flat this year. Fellow flat winner Zarakerjack was a touch green when runner up here on debut but will also be a threat if building on that for a yard with a good record in this discipline.

DELLA CASA LUNGA struggled on her return last month but ran a far more encouraging race over 2m5f here next time. The seven-year-old defeated Holly Hartingo (second) from an identical mark in the corresponding race 12 months ago and would have appeared to target this contest yet again. Star Walking made a pleasing return at Ascot and must enter calculations, along with I've Madeupmymind, who fell when in contention over C&D. Miss Cynthia hasn't been seen since April, but this represents an ease in class.
There wasn't much between MISS CYNTHIA and Star Walking in a Listed race last term and the pair could have this between them. Though she concedes a fitness edge returning after a wind op the former is preferred starting out for her new top stable. She finished 4l ahead of her re-opposing rival at Doncaster but gets 1lb from that rival here who bounced back to form on her reappearance last time. Della Casa Lunga has dropped back to the same mark from which she took this last year and looks the obvious danger to the pair given her excellent course record.

It was certainly no disgrace finishing third in behind Lulamba in the Henry VIII, and Lump Sum has less on his plate today. That being said, it'll be no easy feat conceding 6lb to MAMBONUMBERFIVE, who has taken to fencing like a duck to water. Ben Pauling's charge won at Aintree before following up at Newbury and although improvement will be required, he is open to stacks of it. Mirabad was sent off the outsider of four at Exeter but he put in an excellent round of jumping to score and is more than capable should things go his way.
LUMP SUM was outclassed at the top level last time but he was beaten by a potential superstar that day and should find this more manageable. The form of his debut victory has worked out well and he can get the better of Mambonumberfive who won the Adonis here last term. That rival is unbeaten over fences and comfortably defeated a next time out winner last time so is worth this step up in class. Hansard was arguably the best of these over hurdles so isn't ruled out at a bigger price. A former Gerry Fielden winner needed the run when held here on his chase debut before outclassing his rivals in a weaker contest next time.

Unbeaten in three starts for Dan Skelton, THISTLE ASK continued his upward trajectory with an impressive display in the Grade 2 Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter. He beat the subsequent handicap winner Saint Segal by seven lengths and is taken to confirm superiority, despite the worse terms. The latter will likely feature again off the back of his convincing win at Kelso, while Ryan's Rocket appreciated the return to 2m when scoring nicely at Newbury and is preferred to Gabriel's Getaway.
THISTLE ASK has been rapidly progressing for his new stable and can extend his winning streak here. Though he faces more competition up front he proved he could take a lead on his penultimate start so can confirm Haldon Gold Cup form with the improving Saint Segal who has won since. Perhaps the most interesting competitor is Boothill who has fallen in the last couple of renewals of this when still going well. Beachcomber's yard has returned to form and last year's easy winner enters calculations despite a 7lb higher mark. Montregard has improved for the application of a visor and returned the decisive winner at Ascot to land a double, but it could pay to stick with KAP VERT. The taking winner at Taunton upped to 2m7f for his first start over the larger obstacles, there looks plenty more to come from the five-year-old over fences and he's taken to defy an 8lb hike.
A tight contest where most of the field can be given a chance. Top weight Viroflay is respected given his excellent course record and he looks well treated on his hunter chase win here. It is the unexposed KAP VERT who is preferred though following an impressive debut victory over fences. Though he was aided by some early carnage that day he relished the step up to 3m that day and on favourable good ground can defy an 8lb rise. The Nicky Henderson pair Bective Abbey and Wiseguy are also respected at bigger prices. The former is unexposed over fences while the latter has dropped in the weights and will get his conditions for the first time in a while.

INDEMNITY has faced tougher assignments on his last couple of starts and placed on both occasions. A respectable third in the Gerry Feilden at Newbury last month, Emma Lavelle's charge is taken to make the most of this easier opportunity. The progressive Trustintimes made a winning handicap debut when scoring at Ascot and beating a subsequent winner in the process. He will be hard to keep out of the finish, while Wandering Ego is open to improvement now handicapping for the first time and makes more appeal than Williethebuilder.
A strong race where Indemnity is likely to prove popular back on quicker ground and a sharper track after flattening out last time but his mark does continue to creep up. The same can be said of the unbeaten Trustintimes who is also respected with his latest win working out very well but he did have the run of the race that day which he won't get here. DE TEMPS EN TEMPS could have it easy on the front end here and if that's the case he will be difficult to peg back. He failed to get home over 2m5f at Cheltenham last time having gone off quickly but this test will be more suitable. He looks very well treated on his previous novice win and is chosen to defeat Williethebuilder who has been running back into form. He was only beaten by a handicap blot last time but he did travel well into the race.
