MY MATE LES looks handicapped to strike anytime soon judging by his last-time-out second at Wolverhampton over the extended mile. Tony Carroll's charge has edged up 2lb in the weights but compensation could be in the offing if his latest effort can be built upon. Very Well Red looks the main danger, advertising his well-being with a creditable third at Southwell last time off this mark. The last-named is well berthed to attack and continues his association with William Carson. Lennoxwood has been shaping as if this longer trip would suit and is another to consider.
Aegean King is of obvious interest for his shrewd stable, particularly if attracting support, but without that knowledge it might be safer to look elsewhere. Very Well Red ran a better race at Southwell last time and she can prove too strong for My Mate Les and Batchworth Blaise.

MARAJAA has returned to this sphere full of life in recent months, building upon his claiming grade success over 7f at this track when landing an 0-85 handicap over this trip at Lingfield when last sighted. Back down to plating level tonight, he should take all the beating in his quest for the hat-trick. Red Somerset is capable of holding his own in handicaps so could provide the main danger if fully wound up on his return from a three month break. Slam has been kept fit over hurdles lately and is another to consider now returned to the level.
Marajaa has been a source of much frustration over the years, often running huge races in defeat, but has found his level of late and is taken to complete a polytrack hat-trick. Red Somerset is respected on these terms, while Spinning Ridge looks a bit more convincing than some of these, despite unfavourable terms, and can sneak into the frame.

PRINCE OF BURMA has struggled to land a blow from some unfavourable positions in better company of late but a combination of a declining mark, drop in grade, and first-time blinkers could prove just what is required for him to get his head infront. Peponi has been running to a high level of consistency on the all-weather of late and also commands respect from a good draw. Satwa Laird was outpaced over 7f last time and is also worthy of consideration now back over 1m.
John Louis looks an interesting contender on handicap debut, but Satwa Laird ran well starting out for this yard at Lingfield earlier this month and can cash in on his falling mark. April Fool, a winner here last week is another to consider.

Mayan Flight runs to a fair level of consistency at this level and is unlikely to be far away but a chance is instead taken on Irish raider THE CATENIAN, who has left behind some lamentable maiden efforts since switched to handicaps and ran a promising race over an inadequate 1m2f at Lingfield last month. Vinces has dropped 20lb lower than when last visiting the winner's enclosure two years ago and is also worthy of consideration.
The unexposed The Catenian seems to be getting the hang of things now and can get off the mark at the main expense of Mayan Flight and Time To Play.

The selection signed off his turf campaign with a short-head second at Windsor last year and ran very well off a 2lb higher rating on his return from a break over C&D last month, finishing second behind subsequent winner Oratorian. Le King Beau is another put in his place by the last-named but at least confirmed he was fairly treated when third over this track and trip three days ago. Sonsie Lass has place claims once again providing a wide draw doesn't prove too much of an inconvenience.
Dressed In Lace made a promising start for new connections when second over this C&D recently and is fancied to go one better with that run under her belt. In-form pair Sonsie Lass and Le King Beau head the dangers.

Having scored over the 6f here last week, Vhujon looks the pick of the Peter Grayson pair and could go close if in a similar mood. Shaunas Spirit is another for the shortlist following a solid effort over 1m here in December but preference is for GALA SPIRIT. The distance winner would appear to have another big run up his sleeve off this mark of 55 having gone down by just half a length at Wolverhampton when last sighted.
Gala Spirit finished 2011 in good heart and should go well again, but by far the most interesting contender is Snow Ridge who is taken to make his first start for Ralph Beckett a winning one. Shaunas Spirit is another to consider.
