PITEMPTON POWER has been faultless since switching to fences, following up a cosy win in the mud at Carlisle with an even more decisive success at Musselburgh last time. Though the handicapper has bumped him up 8lb, he should relish this longer trip and appeals as a type to go in again. Deep Charm brings winning Hexham form to the table but the biggest threat may emerge from Scottish Accent, who had excuses last time is now rated below his last winning mark.
There is probably more to come from novice chasers DEEP CHARM and Pitempton Power. Stuart Coltherd's charge forged clear, despite a less-than-fluent round of jumping, at Hexham and is taken to defy a 9 lb rise. Into Overdrive is an interesting runner on his first go over fences.

None of these are overly convincing and FOURTH OF JULY may throw up some value off a potentially dangerous mark on his first hurdling start for over a year. Mike Smith's gelding has won twice over fences (both at this course) since then and is better than what he showed at Musselburgh last time when paying the price for getting into a sustained duel on the front end. Bestiarius and Ensel Du Perche have both shown enough to suggest they can find a race.
EVITA DU MESNIL has failed to fire both starts back from an absence, but she's now just 1 lb above her last winning mark, is likely to get a good pace to aim at and is partnered by an excellent conditional. Bestiarius and Ensel du Perche are a couple of potential dangers.

SOFT RISK brings an unblemished record to the table following another bloodless odds-on romp over this C&D last month and, though he wasn't foot perfect that day, he has such a good engine that the concession of 5lb to Midlands raider Believe Jack may not prove beyond him. Olly Murphy's Irish recruit scored with the minimum amount of fuss at Hereford in November and looks to have a bright future, though softer conditions here throw up a slight question mark. Well Planted chased home the selection at Ayr on his penultimate start and is the pick of a modest remainder.
This could develop into a match between SOFT RISK and Believe Jack, with preference for the former, who stretched his unbeaten record under Rules to 3 with a facile success over C&D 18 days ago. With further improvement on the cards, he gets the nod. Olly Murphy's charge is sure to give him plenty to think about however, with Well Planted looking the pick of the remainder.

Three-time course winner Elvis Mail drops in class and is fancied to run a big race, while Word Has It, who is one from one here, warrants respect switching back to hurdles after falling at the first fence on his chasing debut at Haydock last month. However, STAINSBY GIRL's last-time-out second at Haydock took a big boost when the winner struck again next time and Donald Whillans' charge could go one better off a 3lb higher mark today.
ELVIS MAIL ran well back over hurdles in a deep handicap at Aintree 6 weeks ago and has a good record here, so he could be the way to go. Stainsby Girl is a big player after her fine effort at Haydock, while Word Has It is respected also.

Alan Doyle has been kicking home plenty of winners of late and he and Lastofthecosmics, who has struck the crossbar on his last couple of starts, should go well here, while Prince Dundee also merits consideration with his sights lowered. However, EVEQUE is the mount of top conditional Nathan Moscrop and could go one better than his half-a-length second at Wetherby three weeks ago, when he and well-backed favourite Morozov Cocktail pulled well clear of the remainder.
EVEQUE fully confirmed the promise of his chasing debut when going close at Wetherby on Boxing Day and looks more than capable of winning handicaps off his current mark. Prince Dundee has been knocking on the door of late and is the obvious threat back down in class, while Lastofthecosmics is another who has made a bright start over fences.
