BLACKWATER KING represents the potent Donald McCain/Jason Maguire combination and he can get his supporters off to the best possible start in the opener. Beaten at a short price on his hurdling bow at Sedgefield last month, the son of Beneficial is likely to come on for that experience and appears to have been handed an ideal opportunity. Stitched In Time is feared most on his first start under NH Rules, while it would come as no surprise to see Swindy go well on his racecourse debut.

Forced to carry a penalty for this assignment, the 143-rated chaser should have enough class for these four rivals and he's the only distance winner among the quintet. Saphir River broke his duck at Uttoxeter two starts ago and one to consider in this company, despite having flopped in a Grade 3 last time, while Papamoa is also given a chance.

Up another 12lb for demolishing his Sedgefield rivals last time, he goes well on easy ground and 7lb Joe Colliver has already tasted success on his back. Lucinda Russell's horses are rarely far away at this course so Lucky Sunny could be worth another look at the right price and, while stablemate Livvy Inn also makes some appeal, Hexham winner Rupert Bear is feared most.

Buoyed by a C&D success here last month, Knockara Beau is up 6lb and must be taken seriously under top weight. LIE FORRIT won't mind the mud, however, and he's dropped right back down to what looks an attractive mark. A handicap hurdle winner off 138 at Newbury in 2009, he's won over fences at this track in novice company and can exploit a rating of 124 if anywhere near his best. Devotion To Duty is another interesting contender.

However, RAILWAY DILLON gets the vote and can realise his full potential now trying 4m for the first time. Donald McCain's charge is a determined sort, likes to get his toe in and has shaped as though this marathon trip will suit. Others to note include Cotswold Charmer and Mortimers Cross.

None of the octet can be ruled out with total confidence but Cotswold Charmer was unlucky to bump into subsequent Haydock winner Quartz de Thaix on his return and is fancied to go one better over a trip that promises to suit. Mortimers Cross and Harouet are others to consider.

Despite giving 7lb to the Golden Sparkle in this novice event, recent Newcastle winner LITTLE GLENSHEE makes most appeal. Nick Alexander's mare bolted up in a maiden at the north east track on that occasion and he's open to plenty more improvement going up in trip now the penny appears to have dropped. Ian Duncan's charge is feared most and rarely runs a bad race for connections, while Lucematic is another to take seriously.
