High-class chaser Stormin Exit comfortably opened his hurdling account over C&D three weeks ago and warrants respect under a penalty today, but DARK GLACIER edges the vote. He finished first past the post in three bumper starts last season (although disqualified and placed second at Newcastle in February) before competing in the champion version at Cheltenham in March, finishing mid-pack, and stepping up in distance for this hurdling debut should suit Chris Grant's son of Flemensfirth. Tarlan and Rowdy Rocher add extra spice to an intriguing opener.
A number of interesting hurdling debutants line up for what should prove an informative event. Guaranteed stayer Tarlan will be interesting if the market speaks favourably, but useful bumper horse Dark Glacier is an exciting prospect in this sphere and is surely going to take a lot of beating. Ros Castle appeals as best of the rest.

TANZANITE BAY is taken to make a winning debut over fences. A fine second over hurdles at Kelso three weeks ago will have blown any cobwebs away (first start since March) and she has reportedly schooled well at home. Super Ally bolted up on his latest outing in this sphere off 12lb lower here early last month and then backed that up with a solid placed effort over timber at Hexham six days later. He should mount a bold bid in this, while Emperor Charlie is fancied to go well at a price with his seasonal/chasing debut now behind him.
A modest race of its type, and with Super Ally arriving in good nick he's selected to supplement last month's success around here at the main expense of Tanzanite Bay. Eliades Run is every inch a chaser who should relish this step up in trip, so is one to note even though his yard has yet to roll into top gear after its perennial slow start.

Safari Adventures didn't enjoy being taken on for the lead at Wetherby recently and Garleton could similarly pester him again here, while Indian Groom comfortably won a novice chase on his latest start (when with Howard Johnson) at Carlisle last time but has a near seven-month absence to overcome. The vote, therefore, goes to the hat-trick seeking THE PANAMA KID. Malcolm Jefferson's charge hasn't put a foot wrong in both starts so far this year and he won with enough in hand over C&D last time to suggest that he can defy a further 11lb hike in the weights.
Most of these are in form or at least fairly handicapped, including unexposed Indian Groom, though that one doesn't strike as a sure stayer and it may be worth taking a chance on front-running Safari Adventures instead provided the going isn't too testing. Douglas Julian is from a stable in superb form and represents a major threat.

Winter Alchemy has been running consistently well all year and should be in the thick of things once more despite an ever-increasing handicap mark, but preference is for Jim Goldie's SOPRANO. He won comfortably off 7lb lower on his latest hurdles start over an extended 3m at Perth in July and five starts on the level since, of which he's won two, will have kept his fitness ticking over. King Fontaine has run well fresh in the past and warrants respect, although there is no doubt that chasing is his game nowadays.
It's interesting that Soprano has again been given a prep on the Flat after the same ploy worked well a couple of months ago, but Winter Alchemy's consistency tips the balance in his favour. King Fontaine is well-handicapped if matching his chase form, but More Equity, who likes it round here, is preferred to fill the placings.

Grade 1-winning chaser Kalahari King is undoubtedly the class act of this line-up and must come into the reckoning, but Ferdy Murphy's representatives tend to improve a fair bit for their first run and he could struggle to beat TCHICO POLOS today. It could pay to side with THE COCKNEY SQUIRE in a race in which many look to have chances. Duke of Malfi might now be on a career-high mark beginning life for a new stable, but he produced a lifetime-best when winning over C&D in April and he'll be the one to beat if tuned up on his reappearance. Kilkenny All Star and Baaher are also worthy of consideration.

JUMBY BAY has clearly had plenty of problems since his novice hurdle win at Sedgefield in November '09 but he should prove difficult to beat on his return if anywhere near peak fitness. The form of that race looks rock solid with the second alone winning three races since and he looks leniently treated off a mark of 97 on this handicap debut. Inoogoo, another handicap debutant, ran a close second on his latest start in a maiden hurdle at this venue in April and warrants respect now returning while Cool Baranca, Kingdom Of Munster and Balnagore complete the shortlist.
Whilst there may be a question mark over his well-being, Jumby Bay has joined a very astute trainer and could well have a lot more to come as a hurdler so is well worth chancing. Flaygray ran well on his handicap debut back in May and will be suited by the shorter trip, whilst Ibn Hiyyan is the sort to take off now entering the handicap ranks.
