Recent winner Minster Fair was coming back from a long break to take that contest and although this is a better race she doesn't carry much weight and is entitled to have come on for that run; she can go close at a decent price today. Another with a chance is Cash Bonanza who finished a decent third on his hurdling debut last time and with the experience under his belt may be able to trouble the judge here. They all though have WILD CANE RIDGE to beat. Len Lungo's gelding takes a drop in class after running in a Grade 2 event last time. This class will prove much more to his liking following two successes in novice handicaps prior to that run.

Last time out winner Dumadic has a chance of following up that win but he tends to produce his best efforts on better ground than that he is likely to encounter today. One that seems to enjoy the likely soft conditions is Shannon's Pride, well beaten on good ground last time his two efforts with more cut in the ground prior to that give him strong claims. HARROVIAN is likely to be aimed at the Scottish National next year and is already a C&D winner, he narrowly gets the vote ahead of Shannon's Pride.

Nicky Richards looks to have a strong hand in this with his two hurdling newcomers Nobel and Samaria, with jockey bookings suggesting the last named is the stable's more fancied runner here. The filly failed to win on the flat but managed a number of placed efforts and was thought good enough to run in a Listed race back in October. She may though have to settle for another place behind last time out winner ANDRE CHENIER whose recent success was a good performance and wasn't really disgraced behind susequent Grade 2 winner Akilak the time before, he is the one to beat again.

The most consistent performer in the race is Lord Capitaine, but he continues to rise in the ratings as a result and the handicapper may well have a grip on him now. One going the other way is ROSIE REDMAN, dropped 5lb following her recent efforts in higher class races, she is closer to her highest winning mark now and she may have dropped just enough to be able to score again. There are plenty of other dangers though including Why The Big Paws, Harlov and Auburn Spirit who are all capable of taking this sort of race.

Westmeath Flyer returned from a 10 month lay-off to land a double last month and, although this is tougher, he will strip-fitter today. Dark Ben found form again with a victory over 2m 1f at Sedgefield latest, but the one to follow appears to be TORKINKING. He has been a revelation since the turn of the year, notching up a four-timer, and his latest win came against similar opposition over 2m. The six-year-old should appreciate the step up in trip and his progress is showing no signs of slowing down.
