FESTIVE CHIMES has been a credit to her connections, and was only run out of it close home when going for her third hurdling victory last time. She has enjoyed a break since her last outing, and could take all the beating today. Iberus won a lady riders handicap last term, and would rate a big danger if reproducing that effort. Idle Journey showed improved form when winning last time out, and there could be further improvement to come.
The winner of a bumper, STACK THE PACK is unbeaten over fences this term, despite the tendency to make jumping errors. His latest victory in a small field is slightly devalued by the departure of two main rivals, but he can improve again, and maybe go on to better things. Fullards is a decent hurdler on his day and is gaining confidence in this sphere, and should be winning shortly. It's Definite made a winning chasing debut but has disappointed since.
MASTER TERN finds himself on a winning mark at present, and could prove too strong for today's rivals. He has not won since April 2003, but with the stable back in good form he can be expected to put in a bold show this afternoon. Previous C&D winner Strong Magic is a credit to his trainer, and won by a distance last time at the ripe old ago of 13. The Extra Man likes this course and would go close if putting his best foot forward.
ETCHED IN STONE changed stables after winning at Cork in January and followed up with a comfortable victory at Perth in May. Always held in high regard, he could be worth following over hurdles in the coming months. Knighton Lad ran well in bumpers last term, and looks capable of winning a race of this nature. Lightly raced since winning a bumper two years ago, Ungaro's future probably lies over the larger obstacles.
ARCHDUKE FERDINAND won the Northumberland Plate as a 3yo, but has failed to win on the Flat since. However, he made a respectable debut over timber at Chepstow last month, and should strip much fitter this afternoon. Finely Tuned is well thought of by connections, and would go close if he is able to reproduce a good effort behind Reveillez at Windsor last season. Dream Merchant is sure to improve on a respectable fourth behind Dusky Lord on his recent debut over timber.
MARLBOROUGH SOUND is improving with his racing, and after opening his account at Cartmel in May, he chased home the improving Drumbeater at Perth. Staying is his forte, and he should be in the thick of things this afternoon. Tomina had a recent pipe-opener on the Flat, and this three time winner commands plenty of respect. The lightly raced Heir To Be was no match for Woodlands Genpower when last seen almost a year ago, but has scope for improvement.
