UMSEYAT recovered from a slow start to finish a highly promising third on her racecourse debut at Goodwood almost three weeks ago and, sure to know a lot more about the game now, she could prove difficult to beat. Moonsail represents a Godolphin operation that have been firing in the winners recently and is sure to have plenty of supporters first time out, while Eaves Lane was doing all her best work in the closing stages when fifth over an extended 7f at Beverley ten days ago and should benefit from this climb in trip.
Umseyat seems sure to build on a promising debut but could have her work cut out if Moonsail lives up to her superb pedigree. The Godolphin filly can become the third foal of the 1000 Guineas/Oaks winner Kazzia to score at the first time of asking. Eaves Lane may do best of the rest.

A fiercely competitive handicap which could go the way of BABYCAKES. Michael Bell's filly has done nothing but improve all season long and won with plenty in hand over 1m1f at Sandown a couple of weeks ago. There should be more to come and a 6lb rise in the handicap is unlikely to be enough to stop him. Calipatria and Red Intrigue finished third and fifth respectively behind the selection last time and must improve to reverse placings so it's Madhaaq who rates the biggest threat following her effortless success at Newbury in July. Oh Khee and Antigua Sunrise make up the shortlist.
Madhaaq marked herself down as a filly to follow when sauntering clear at Newbury in July, and can follow up from a 10 lb higher mark 2 months on. On Khee is just one of a number of interesting alternatives, while Miss Antonia has long shaped as if 1¼m will suit her well.

Rangefinder boasts plenty of solid soft ground form and seems sure to have his say in the final outcome this afternoon but they will all have to go some to beat KANSAI SPIRIT, who bids to make it four wins in a row. This son of Sinndar looked better than ever when landing a valuable prize over C&D last time and a further 6lb rise in the handicap shouldn't be enough to bring his winning sequence to an end. Both three-year-old runners in the race, Herculean and Sunny Game, are progressing nicely and cannot be ruled out.
The benchmark horse is the thriving Kansai Spirit, on a 4-timer and sure to run well, but he could have a job on trying to give the best part of 2 stone to unexposed 3-y-o Sunny Game, who's bred to relish this sort of test. The stamina-laden Bollin Felix will be staying on when others have had enough.

The mightily consistent HORSERADISH has yet to finish out of the frame in seven career appearances (four wins) and will take some stopping today. He showed that he's not afraid to have a scrap when coming out on top over C&D 11 days ago and connections felt that he would improve for that first run since May. Sonny Red came desperately close to landing the Ayr Silver Cup last week and should go well off a 5lb higher mark here, while Secret Witness has been knocking on the door recently and could prove a popular choice amongst each-way punters.

Hazelrigg arrives here in top form and won't give up on the hat-trick without a fight but FOXY MUSIC is fancied to strike for the Eric Alston stable, who won this race in 2002. The six-year-old loves to get his toe in and produced a career best performance when winning over a slightly longer trip at Chester last time. He is 12lb better of with Hazelrigg for a quarter of a length beating over C&D in July and should be able to reverse placings. Cheveton won gamely at Ayr recently and demands respect, while Desert Phantom is another with solid place credentials.
Another tremendous sprint handicap in prospect. Hazelrigg may have turned the corner attitude-wise given how easily he won at Ayr last week and he must be considered again, but Desert Phantom gets the nod as he would have won in another stride at Leicester on Monday and a well-run 5f here should suit. Another Ayr winner in Cheveton is also a big player.

GENIUS BEAST will be well fancied to open his account at the third time of asking. He has shaped promisingly in a couple of hot maidens thus far and entries in next year's Derby and the Irish equivalent suggest that he is well regarded by the 'boys in blue'. Sadler's Risk cost 35,000gns as a yearling and could be worth closely monitoring in the betting market for any possible clues on his racecourse debut for leading connections, while Red Marling is the most experienced member of the line-up and will be hoping to put that to good use.
Genius Beast will find this easier than the 2 maidens he's finished third in and should open his account. Red Marling has the ability to win races before long, but he needs to put a disappointing run behind him here, while newcomers Sadler's Risk and Indian Emperor both appeal also.

TARIQ TOO is the least exposed member of this line-up and could prove a tough nut to crack from the bottom end of the weights. David Simcock's charge readily landed his maiden over 7f at Redcar last time and doesn't look badly treated first time in handicap company. Frontline Girl looked better than ever when making virtually every yard of the running to strike at Newcastle latest and should have her say in the final outcome today, while One Scoop Or Two has won on his last two visits here and cannot be left out of calculations.
Tariq Too, a full brother to the very smart Tariq, will likely be popular on his first foray into handicaps and is very much respected, but as things stand he's got plenty to find. Exit Smiling and Frontline Girl look the most interesting of the others, and our slight preference is for the former, who was second in a much stronger race at Ripon two starts back.
