SANTERA appeared to benefit from the application of cheekpieces (worn again today) when striking over an extended 2m4f at Uttoxeter last Sunday and, despite being burdened with a 7lb penalty, she will prove tough to beat if in the same mood today. Stopped Out was in fine form earlier in the year and seems sure to mount a bold bid on his return to action while 2007 Fred Winter Hurdle winner Gaspara is very well handicapped on her best form and cannot be ruled out.
Santera looked an improved performer on her first run for a new stable and she can overcome her penalty here. Wester Ross made an encouraging return on the Flat last time and can prove the main threat, with Extreme Conviction another to consider.

ASTRACAD could take some stopping in his bid to complete the hat-trick. Nigel Twiston-Davies has been firing in the winners recently and this gelding gave the impression that there was plenty more to come when striking at Aintree last time. Points Of View has been progressing at a rate of knots and warrants respect despite stepping up in grade, while any market support for Higgy's Boy on his return from a long lay-off could well be worth noting. Son Of Flicka and Now This Is It make up the shortlist in a competitive looking heat.
The improvement shown by Points of View has been one of the features of summer jumping and, whilst he faces his biggest test yet here, there's more to come from him again. Both Astracad and Now This Is It have scope for improvement and are high up on the list of dangers.

Evan Williams won this race 12 months ago with the useful Barizan and his Beyond seems sure to give another good account today, but they will all have to go some to beat the hat-trick seeking TWO KISSES. Brendan Powell's filly has improved beyond all recognition since finishing runner-up behind Beyond on her hurdling debut at Stratford in July and hasn't had to come out of second gear to land her two victories thus far. Architrave and Meetings Man are defending unbeaten records over timber and warrant the utmost respect.
Evan Williams took this last year with one of the leading juveniles in Barizan, and his Beyond should go close if casting aside a disappointing effort last time. Two Kisses is put up as the selection, though, with Joan d'Arc one of a handful of potential dangers.

KARASENIR showed plenty of promise in bumpers earlier this year and he could prove tough to beat this afternoon if he takes to hurdling at the first time of asking. Union Island has some useful Flat form and he also makes plenty of appeal on his hurdling debut. Market support for him would be a big positive while his stablemate, Wild Desert, is fit from the Flat and he also merits consideration.
Karasenir was rather unfortunate to remain a maiden in bumpers, and can gain some compensation now switched to hurdles, the Alan King-trained pair Union Island and Wild Desert looking the main threats.

DONTPAYTHEFERRYMAN made an encouraging start over fences in the spring but he returns to action over hurdles here and, if he is at the top of his game, he could be the one to beat. Ruthenoise has a lay-off to overcome but she would be interesting if there is confidence behind her in the betting market. Royal Max can play a leading role if returning to his best form while the progressive Swiss Art also commands respect.
A chance is taken on Ruthenoise on her handicap debut for Nicky Henderson. She's not been seen since March 2009 but she's unlikely to want for fitness on her return and could be potentially thrown in. Royal Max won't be long in winning for Ian Williams and could be her biggest danger, ahead of Swiss Art.
