Second over 2m here latest, consistent veteran The French Furze knows his way around here well but, although he has won over 2m5f, this may be a bit too far for him and the preference is for LABELTHOU. Emma Lavelle's mare is four from five over hurdles this term and has won twice at this level, including over 2m5f in the mud at Warwick last month. She appeared to get 3m alright when second at Cheltenham in December and the stable has been amongst the winners recently. Afrad returned to hurdling with a close this last month and completes the short-list.

Plenty in with a shout here, including Cloudy Lane on his handicap debut in this sphere and The Outlier who goes up 8lb for a clear cut 3m Grade 2 success over 3m here latest. Wild Cane Ridge is 4lb better off with Kandjar D'allier for a half-length defeat here in December while Kelami went very close off today's mark over 3m at Sandown two weeks ago. The safest bet, however, may be KILBEGGAN BLADE who has been highly progressive in recent months. He completed a hat-trick over this C&D when last seen in December, this is tougher and he is 12lb higher but he won with plenty to spare. He has conditions to suit and further improvement could be on the cards.

Another wide open contest. ROWLEY HILL had Julius Caesar 4l back in third when landing a 3m1f event in the mud at Warwick latest and another bold bid is expected off only a 1lb higher mark with conditions to suit again. The Bajan Bandit, winner of this race in 2005, hinted at a return to form over fences last month and Paperprophet would have every chance if picking up where he left off in May. Helm goes up a massive 23lb after completing a double with ease over 3m at Taunton latest but that doesn't rule him out with this stern test of stamina sure to suit, while Monolith is only 5lb higher than when he was last seen landing a 2m5f hurdle at Cheltenham in October.

As appeared to be the case with The Reverend last time out, Alright Now M'Lad may find this trip a touch on the sharp side and it could pay to give another chance to GO FOR ONE. He disappointed 2m5f at Wincanton last month but won his first two outings over fences in good style and is only 5lb higher than when scored in similar conditions over this C&D in late December. The Sawyer relished the drop in trip to score over 2m5f and 2m4f on his last two starts and may not be as effective back at this sort of distance. This event was won by French raider Overlut last year and the trophy could go back across the channel again today thanks to GRAND BLEU. He opened his account at the first time of asking in a 2m1f hurdle on testing ground at Fontainebleau and is open to any amount of improvement representing a yard that has a good strike-rate with it's hurdlers on these shores. Market support for Regal Heights, who has been in good heart in recent months, would be of interest on his handicap debut in this sphere but the tentative vote goes to CALATAGAN. Malcolm Jefferson's charge enhanced his strike-rate over fences to fifty percent when making all at Wetherby, he is 8lb higher today but is a tough sort and could be tough to pass if applying the same tactics.
