Overstrand has been in fine form in hot company recently, including a neck second in a Grade 3 event a week ago and should go well despite top weight today. A 4lb rise leaves him with no margin for error, however, and he could be worth taking on with FRENCH SAULAIE. Following some impressive form in novice company this term, Philip Hobbs' charge chased home, albeit well beaten, the smart Ashleybrook over 2m1f on his handicap debut last month on ground that may have been a bit too testing for him and that form has been bolstered by the latter's second to Well Chief last week. The 6-y-o was 3 lengths clear of Ma Yahab in third that day, he is still improving and this sterner test of stamina should suit. The Real Deal and Pevensey both arrive here in search of a hat-trick and must be considered but the handicapper has taken no chances with either of them.

GUNGADU's only defeat over fences came when just failing to give 4lb to the smart Boychuk in November, he recorded easy 3m chase victories either side of that and looks the one to beat today. Ruby Walsh's mount has jumped right on all three chase outings and could be capable of much better as he switches to a right hand track today. According To John found the step up to Grade 1 company too much when bidding for a hat-trick latest but is open to further progress and could give the selection something to think about, as may Over The Creek. MONET'S GARDEN found the step up to 3m too far in the King George latest and looks the one to beat here on his previous form. His only previous defeat over fences came when a close second in last year's Arkle, conditions should be ideal for him today and he will be tough to beat if back to his best. 2005 Festival Trophy Chase winner Thisthatandtother should now be cherry-ripe on his third start after nearly a year off and could have his say. Fota Island has failed to reproduce last season's form on both outings this term but would be a serious threat if in the same mood as when second in three consecutive Grade 1 events in March/April last year, including in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham. Central House hasn't transferred his smart Irish form to these shores in the past and that has to be a concern, as well as his ability to get this trip.

Sound Accord warrants respect as he switches to jumping after some impressive form (including two wins) in bumpers, as does Warlord who is expected to improve on a promising hurdles debut third over this C&D, but it's hard to look beyond BEST ACTOR in this heat. Carl Llewellyn's charge returned from a seven month break with a very easy pillar-to-post success at Fontwell in December, the lightly-raced 8-y-o could have plenty more in the locker and represents a yard in fine form at present.

Having shown flickers of ability over timber in France, Flat winner SHATABDI couldn't have been more impressive in landing a 2m hurdle at Plumpton on her UK debut on Monday. That was by no means the stiffest introduction to racing on these shores and she carries a penalty today, but she should still prove very tough to beat in this company. First Feerie failed to improve on a promising hurdling bow second at Aintree last time but does drop in grade this afternoon and should be closer to the business end. Bumper winner Inherent could battle for minor honours on her opener over obstacles as she debuts for Henry Daly's yard.
