Three-year-old handicaps can be tricky at this stage of the season with improving sorts locking horns with more exposed campaigners. Highland Castle and GOSBECK certainly come into the former category and Henry Candy's filly can build on a good performance at Newbury when outpointing a long odds-on shot from the Stoute yard. There looked to be no fluke about that success and she can step up to score here. Seelo was disappointing last time but it wouldn't surprise to see a better showing here, whilst the claims of the hat-trick seeking pair, Good Boy Jackson and Pintrada, cannot be ignored.
A good quality handicap in which most of these 3-y-os are still improving. Nothing makes more appeal than Pintrada who has really got his act together of late. Seelo will be suited by the step up in trip and can give him most to do whilst a reproduction of Reflect's C&D run in May could be enough to see him reach a place.

VITA NOVA took the transition from handicap to Listed company in her stride when just overhauled here last time by Ferdoos, the pair finishing clear of last year's disqualified Oaks second, Meeznah. With only four runs under her belt, she should progress again and is worth chancing up in grade once more. Gertrude Bell and Polly's Mark were separated by the camera at Goodwood and there should be little between them here. Both should run their race, while Eleanora Duse has claims if back to her best. Dorcas Lane, third in the Ribblesdale Stakes, looks a most progressive filly too.
Vita Nova already sets the standard after her excellent second here last time and looks the one to beat with further progress on the cards. Eleanora Duse will find this trip much more to her liking, while Gertrude Bell could have a bit more to offer.

A competitive renewal but there is a chance that BOURNE remains ahead of the handicapper despite disappointing at Epsom last time. Never competitive at any stage, he's better judged on a progressive profile that saw him land three handicaps in four outings. Maybe he didn't handle the quirky Surrey track but it certainly wasn't an effort in line with those previous successes. Sirvino surged back to form at Windsor after a quiet period and has been hit with an 11lb rise by the assessor. He's clearly in great heart though, with Irish raider Mount Athos and Classic Vintage highly respected too.
A fiercely competitive renewal of this long-standing handicap and Dansili Dancer is fancied to repeat his 2007 success having dropped to a very tempting mark. The unexposed Bourne looks a big threat for a yard with a fine record in this over the years, while Mount Athos and War Poet also need considering.

Norville continues to defy the handicapper's attempts to get a handle on his improvement and it will be fascinating to see how he gets on upped in grade. There's no doubting his resolution but this does look a really good chance for HIGH STANDING to regain winning brackets. Admittedly he hasn't quite looked the horse of previous seasons this term but still sets the standard and most of his rivals are not in the best of nick currently. Prime Defender has been contesting some top races, though, and he too will find this easier and rates the main danger.
Prime Defender and High Standing would have had this between them at their peak, but neither has looked the force of old lately, and the younger legs of Norville can leave them both trailing. The 4-y-o has been a revelation and will be hard to beat if in the same form as when winning at Windsor last weekend.

BOLD MARC doesn't have the easiest of tasks shouldering top weight but he's a tough old stick and has fewer question marks against him than his rivals. He looks sure to give his running and can provide another winner for Australian pilot Hugh Bowman. Powerful Presence has a splendid fibresand record but proved himself proficient on turf at Catterick latest and looks the danger. Dysios looked a possible improver until disappointing at Newbury and is best watched, while Orchid Street only landed a seller last time. Star Addition has yet to win on turf and Bussa was tailed off latest.
The thriving Bold Marc would be dangerous if allowed an easy lead again, but that seems unlikely with Powerful Presence usually ridden handy, and David O'Meara's charge is a confident selection, with the 6 lb rise for his latest win looking lenient.
