Verdict

TITAN OF THE TURF could be a classy sort in the making and has been given a plum gate. He won his maiden well enough to suggest there is much more to come. ARISTOCRATIC also impressed on debut and then ran a promising fourth in a Grade 2 in just his second start. At this stage in his career, he could prefer the drop in distance. ZALATORIS has run well in all four of his starts. He met a promising type last time and could show the strength of that form. Well related Rafeef colt CITY OF LOVE won his debut in fluent style and is open to improvement. SHADOWFAX is one of many that can earn.

A likely R10 MILLION Pick 6 pool is expected! Trainer Alan Greeff's brilliant season can continue with GOLDEN PALM who is unbeaten in her last three. She beat ONE FINE WINTER in the Grade 2 SA Fillies Nursery and the latter came out to win a Grade 3 and has also finished third in a Grade 1. Verdict

The Grade 1 Mercury Sprint always attracts the best around. Grade 2 Golden Horse Sprint winner TENANGO is proving to be very good indeed but he will need luck to win from a wide draw. Officially WILLIAM ROBERTSON is the best horse and he has run well in this race in the past. He could bounce back to form. QUESTIONING is another high calibre runner and he could be in the right place jumping from gate six. I AM GIANT won the Post Merchants in style and may find more to follow up. Verdict

The Quartet Pool is expected to reach R2 million, so get your bets on timeously. KING PELLES won the Grade 3 Gold Vase with a dominant performance and could make it a clean sweep of the region's top staying events. He has a bit more to do. HOLDING THUMBS and SHOOT THE RAPIDS were no match for him last time but anything can happen on the day and both are weighted to pose more of a threat. Last year's Gold Vase winner MADISON VALLEY, who was a gallant fifth in the Hollywoodbets Durban July, could be the biggest threat. More can get into the Quartet.

Quality field. DAVE THE KING is looking to defend his title and the five-year-old could fend them off again. Hollywoodbets Durban July hero THE REAL PRINCE was sensational and he is looking to quickly add another Grade 1 to his CV. Verdict

A big, solid field could ensure rewarding dividends. LITTLE SUZIE can confirm the class she showed when taking home the Grade 2 Woolavington 2000. MY SOUL MATE is 4.5kg better off with her for a 1.1-length beating and then ran well in the Oaks. She has drawn well and rates a threat along with RAINBOW LORIKEET who had a tough passage and was a bit unlucky then. The latter didn't disgrace herself in the July thereafter. MOCHA BLEND has improvement to come and could be ready for another decent performance. If VJ'S ANGEL comes back to form, watch out!
