Verdict

If WHIRLYBIRD takes to the poly, she will be the one to beat. She has made progress with each start on the Highveld and presumably comes here ready to go even if racing after a rest. NTOMBENHLE has been spoiling her chances by jumping slow. She nevertheless rates a serious contender as she has run well from wide draws. SUMIKO could be the one that makes sudden improvement. She was backed into favourite after a fair debut so must be showing decent work back home. She may relish the track and trip. BEACH LANDING and MAURITANIA also appear better than their form suggests.

Verdict

HIS MASTER'S VOICE looks to be well placed. He turned in a decent performance when second to a useful youngster while giving him a lot of weight. He has drawn in gate one again and should take advantage. KING OF SEVILLE appears held by HIS MASTER'S VOICE on two previous meetings but was gelded recently and can start to improve. JOSEPHINE'S PRIDE didn't take to the marathon distance on the turf last time and the run is best ignored. Courtesy of a 4kg apprentice claim he could prove to be dangerous as his best run was on this surface. EXCALIBUR CALLS and THE GREEN GALLANT can earn.

Verdict

Three-year-old OCEAN PALACE should continue to progress after a fair debut. She ran on well to finish third amongst more experienced rivals and could make any amount of improvement. VERMACILLI has not drawn as well as her younger counterpart but knows the polytrack very well and could score her overdue maiden victory. A 4kg apprentice claim should make her task a lot less difficult. PURPLE FLOWER showed potential on the poly on debut before a tame run on the turf first time. She is a lightly raced four-year-old that should be looking for the longer trip. More can earn.

Verdict

MALCOLM'S DREAM impressed last time and went up eight points in merit ratings. As a result she could have a tough task this time but she is unbeaten over the distance and having drawn well could fend them off. PETIT VERDOT needs to jump on terms and also needs to get going sooner. Easier said than done but she is back at her best track and could get lucky. CRAZY BLUES is also dangerous at this venue. She won from a wide draw the last time she raced on the poly but she will have to do it again and this race appears more competitive. BITCOIN BABY and IMPERIOUS DESTINY are live as well.

Verdict

L'ULTIMO rates the value proposition. He is a lot better than his last race when running on turf in a sprint. He met stronger prior and now back to his best track and trip from gate one could surprise. Highveld raider JP TWO THOUSAND has drawn well on his poly debut and needs to be taken seriously. He has dropped heavily in ratings and blinkers are back on. TURBO BOOST looks to have his work cut out on handicap debut but won his maiden when trying the poly in just his second start. SENOR GARCIA and hat-trick seeking JOSHUA HOTSNAKE should be right there on form.

Verdict

The last time ESQUEVELLE raced on the poly he ran off the same mark of 69 and he won as he liked. He has blinkers on and is partnered by Richard Fourie. Stablemate LIFE GOES ON is a specialist and one that has also dropped in ratings. From gate one he could keep going. Another Highveld raider WHAT A TIGER had to be switched off from a wide draw on poly debut. He is a lot better than that and a much better run is expected. ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA sparked when trying the minimum trip on the poly. He has a chance of following up but BRASS BELL could be more dangerous this time.

Verdict

HUGSANDHIGHFIVES has much in her favour and rates the form choice. She will however need to jump on terms. It could get close between HUGSANDHIGHFIVES and CERTAINLY at the weights. The latter is also knocking hard at the door. Trainer Frank Robinson has his yard in good form. STAR CHOICE again flew up after winning her comeback race from a hopeless position. She had to settle for second last time but is back to her best distance and may just mow them down again. RED ROSES TOO and BONNE BOUCHE are capable of showing good pace from start to finish.
