BLADE EXPRESS failed to last home when stepped up to a route on his latest start at Bay Meadows but had looked on the upgrade when winning his maiden over today's trip on his previous start. He looks capable of making a winning start for his new barn at the main expense of Lifestream and Man O'Roar who both finished second on their latest outings.
Two Champs had shaped well on his debut before disappointing in better company last time and WESTERN EVENT looks a safer option. Greg James' gelding was not beaten far when third at Bay Meadows last time and this looks easier. Ronald Jr. could prove the best of the remainder.
Cut Glass returns from a lengthy absence and is best over a route anyway, but Shoot Yeah can be given a chance on his best form. BOLD ARIES finished a creditable third on his latest start over a mile but was an easy winner on his penultimate outing over today's distance and Steve Miyadi's charge can get back to winning ways here.
AWESOME HONOR had a length on Cat Of Fifty Seven when going very close in a similar event at Bay Meadows earlier this month. He will strip-fitter for that outing and looks ready to open his account. Muscat was further back in fourth at Bay Meadows that day on his debut and he has scope for plenty of improvement. The K D Deputy is an interesting newcomer and any market support should be noted.
KEY SECRET returned to dirt with impressive results when running out a cosy winner of a similar event to this at Bay Meadows latest - over four lengths ahead of third placed Just Smile. She is taken to stage a follow-up at the main expense of Gotta Go Girl who scored over the same C&D, albeit in lesser company, and continues to improve.
Sleepy Jones is the clear selection on recent form after completing a double with ease over 1m latest. However, that was on dirt and he has plenty to prove on turf so the preference is for DONTBENCHME. Bret Layne's charge opened on grass over this trip at Bay Meadows last month and wouldn't have to find too much to land this one. Elsewhere, Yellow Out boasts the highest speed-figure on turf and has gone near in similar events lately.
Tender Storm has not been disgraced on her two starts to date and could take closer order here. Shopping Carson put in a fine effort on debut, but was no match for SEAM SEEKER last time. Ed Moger's filly didn't quite last home over 6f, and could be even better over this shorter trip.
Noble Masterpiece didn't appear to enjoy the change in tactics when fading at Keeneland last time, while Gallant finished ahead of Noble Masterpiece in August but hasn't run since. The front-runner Shadow Raider just couldn't hold off the attentions of ADREAMISBORN at Bay Meadows, and Jerry Hollendorfer's six-year-old is taken to confirm his superiority over this longer trip.
Flashy Boy was convincingly beaten into second last time and needs to improve, while Doc Wilson was equally distant in third at Fresno in what was his career-best to date. ALL TO INSPIRING has been a consistent sort in this grade, and a repeat of his narrow second at Fresno latest could be enough to see him go one better.
