MORNING MAYHEM was a beaten favourite at Wincanton latest but can reward those who keep the faith, as he seems to have less on his plate and an impressive Uttoxeter victory in December remains fresh in the memory. He goes well on deep ground and gets the nod ahead of Character Testing, who performed well for second at Market Rasen. Risk It All is next best.
RISK IT ALL hasn't won for this yard but he was successful in bumpers in France and he travelled well for a long way until his stamina gave way over 2 1/2m last time. Before that he had been running into form after a wind op and his mark looks generous based on his best efforts. Back down in trip he can get the better of Character Testing who bounced back last time pulling a long way clear with the progressive winner. He should build on that first completed start for the yard and the booking of Cobden suggests a big run is expected. Longstanding maiden Alvesta was poorly placed to challenge here on his last hurdles run but is on a fair mark based on his early efforts and could also pose a threat.

Course scorer Animal is very much respected in here on the back of his Fontwell third, but the verdict goes to BROTHER BORIS. He shaped as though stepping up in trip would suit when finishing a staying-on third over 2m5f here last month and this could be the time to catch him. It's also worth keeping a close eye on Edgewell.
Animal is likely to prove popular having returned to form with a placed effort last time. A competitive novices' hurdle for punters to solve and only a tentative vote goes the way of SWINGIN SAFARI. He didn't show his best at Kempton but is taken to bounce back judged on the strength of his Wincanton form, not to mention last season's strong bumper performances. Plumpton maiden hurdle winner The Boss Bear looks quite useful and joins Limerick scorer No Cure and improved Sandown runner-up Ionian on the shortlist.
IONIAN left his debut form behind last time when pulling clear with a useful rival and he could be tough to catch if employing the same positive tactics at this sharp venue. That run sets the standard on the ratings and a repeat will be enough to see off Jury's In who has shaped with promise on both starts so far over hurdles and represents a yard with an excellent record here. BELLE MONTROSE sprang a big shock to win at 40/1 over this C&D last month, which could in part be attributed to a step up in trip. Sam Drinkwater's mare is completely unexposed at this distance, so a 4lb rise is unlikely to halt further progress and she's preferred to the reopposing Moviddy (third). Jacks Touch was well held in fifth that day too, meaning Kalista Love ought to be a bigger threat.
KALISTA LOVE hasn't added to her debut win over fences but she's been contesting much better races than this and should take advantage of a drop in grade here. She travelled strongly last time before being outstayed by a progressive rival over 3m and should find this test much more to her liking. Moviddy has a poor strike rate and some jumping issues but she returned to form when placing last time. She is well treated on her old efforts and should reverse that recent form behind Belle Montrose here on these revised terms on easier ground.

The classy STATTLER was only reeled in late on when returning from a lengthy absence at Hereford last month but with that run under his belt, he is expected to go one better. Major Dundee has been running with credit between the flags of late and although more will be required, he is still the main danger. This is deeper than the contest Hollywood Harmon won at Cartmel in May of last year but she's most appealing of the remainder.
STATTLER pulled himself up in front and threw the race away last time but is expected to make amends here. Given he's won over further than this 3m it's unlikely that it was his stamina giving way over 2 1/2m last time. It was probably his fitness giving way after a long lay off and it was no help that he was left clear in front a long way out. He should have too much class for these rivals with the biggest threat former Midlands National winner Major Dundee who proved he retained most of his ability with a good run in the Eider last year. Course winner Frere D'Armes looks best of the rest but he does have stamina concerns over this far on soft ground.

Apieceovfortune has to be respected following her C&D victory last month, which was her second win in three starts, but preference is for DE DELI COUNTER. Mark Walford's gelding pulled 15 lengths clear of the third when a narrow second at Market Rasen earlier in the month. He is 6lb well in on this occasion and the five-year-old must be respected with that in mind. Castanea Breeze is the pick of the remainder.
Last time out C&D winner Apieceovfortune is likely to prove popular having been raised only 2lb. She showed a willing attitude that day so is respected but the softer ground is a slight concern. The booking of Cobden catches the eye on DE DELI COUNTER who came a long way clear of the remainder when runner up on his handicap debut over 2 1/2m under a positive ride. His mark has been generously left alone and he should prove tough to catch up in trip at this sharp track. Top weight Castanea Breeze has been progressing since being upped to staying trips and he's proven in testing conditions so should also be on the premises.

COOLTOBECARELESS won a point-to-point a year ago and made a promising start to life under Rules when second at Chepstow in October. With the benefit of that experience, Dan Skelton's gelding could be hard to beat. Elusive Pb also showed ability when third on his racecourse bow at Wincanton, while any market support for Beau Speed would have to be noted.
Point winner COOLTOBECARELESS looks the obvious choice here following a promising runner up effort first time out where he was given too much to do. The form of that contest has taken some knocks but he is open to plenty of progress for his top yard. Newcomer Beau Speed could prove the obvious danger for a top yard which gets plenty of first time out winners.
