Alder Mairi is sure to be a all the rage after making it two wins from her last three starts with ease over 2m here last month. Both her victories came in heavy ground, though, so she has it to prove on a quicker surface, as well as over this longer trip, and it could be worth taking her on with KIM TIAN ROAD. Although no match for Al Ferof on her first UK start over 2m4f at Taunton, there was plenty to like about his bronze medal effort and she finished well clear of the remainder. She can make the most of the 12lb she receives from Alder Mairi. Fairey Delta rates bets of the rest.

Jeremy Scott has won two of the last three runnings of this contest, including with JOSH'S DREAMWAY 12 months ago, and the seven-year-old mare has sound claims again. She is 13lb higher now but has been dropped 2lb for a decent sixth at Taunton in December and that form has worked out well. She warmed up for this with a narrow defeat in a 'jumpers' bumper' at Wolverhampton in January. Harry Fry is enjoying a fine first season and his Presenting Arms has shown ability in three qualifying runs, but an initial mark of 115 may be a little high. Having finished second on both chase outings so far, including when narrowly missing out to the useful Safran De Cotte at Leicester last time, ABNAKI can gain a deserved victory. Both those efforts came on heavy ground and he is expected to relish this better surface. Safran De Cotte subsequently beat De La Bech with a little more ease at Leicester, but the latter is entitled to come on for that chasing debut experience and looks a serious threat to the selection. Big News, the sole chase winner in the field, was a slightly fortunate scorer at Ludlow and this is tougher.

Cut The Cards was well backed for his handicap debut at Southwell in August but was held when falling at the last. Given plenty of time to get over that, he is respected on his reappearance but the safer option appears to be CHILBURY HILL. Time Vaughan's inmate carries a 7lb penalty for selling handicap hurdle victory at Towcester but did the job with ease and is still 6lb lower than his previous success. Tamira looks feasibly treated on her handicap bow and is worth a second look.
