Dermot Weld saddled the winner of this contest in 2010 and appears to have another big chance with HIGHEST PRAISE. The nicely-bred daughter of Acclamation fetched 165,000 euros at the sales in September and an entry in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes suggests that she has been impressing the master of Rosewell in her homework. If not quite ready for this, Teoirim could take advantage. Representing the Jim Bolger stable that has won this event in 2007, 2008 and 2011, she has displayed a fair amount of ability in both visits to the racecourse thus far and another big run looks in the offing. Delight may be on the premises if stepping forward from her debut sixth, while 180,000 euro purchase Nandiga is a respected newcomer.
This has the look of a potentially informative maiden, and there are a number of well-bred newcomers on show, principally Highest Praise and How Splendid. However, this can go to Teoirim who will be suited by a stiffer test before long, but is taken to put her experience to good use here. Delight should leave her debut effort behind and also enters calculations.

LIBERATING really caught the eye when getting the better of Infanta Branca and Katchy Lady in a Cork maiden last month and, as that pair have franked the form with subsequent wins of their own, her debut performance looks all the more impressive. The daughter of Iffraaj is entitled to have come on for it both mentally and physically so should be very tough to beat now pitched into Listed company. Of the others, Cay Verde represents the in-form Mick Channon team and will be thereabouts if showing a similar level of improvement to that displayed at Ascot last time.
Liberating saw her rivals off in authoritative fashion on debut at Cork and, with further progress anticipated, can confirm her superiority over the runner-up on that occasion, Infanta Branca. Cay Verde was impressive at Ascot and may emerge as the chief threat to Jessica Harrington's charge.

CRUSADE won the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes last year and contested the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs. In the absence of his stablemate, Nephrite, he could take all the beating if at the top of his game on his reappearance. Hitchens won this race last year and he has been in good heart at Meydan this year so he has to be respected. Fire Lily had some excellent juvenile form and she has been far from disgraced in two runs in pattern company this year so has to be considered.
The renewal of the Middle Park won by Crusade lacked strength in depth, and he is worth taking on. Last year's winner Hitchens looks sure to be go well again, while the drop to 6f should suit Fire Lily, but the vote goes to the latter's stablemate Experience who may have more to offer following her solid reappearance effort.

TAKAR seems to have a lot to find on official figures but he's clearly a rapidly-progressive colt with a big future. John Oxx's son of Oratorio won an 18-runner Leopardstown maiden in tremendous style in November and he comfortably took the step up to Listed level in his stride here earlier in the month. This requires much more, but he has a fine turn of foot and could just be up to the task under Johnny Murtagh. Hermival had Trumpet Major (fourth), Born To Sea (12th) and Power (17th) well beaten off when a fine third in the English version on just his third career start and he is expected to confirm his superiority over that trio at least. Dewhurst winner Parish Hall must be taken very seriously on his belated return to action and Breeders' Cup hero Wrote is a fascinating contender dropping back to 1m following a lifeless display in the Derrinstown.
Hermival ran a cracking race in the English 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and has to be high on the list. However, it remains to be seen whether he will prove as effective on better ground here and the vote goes to Trumpet Major who was just over a length adrift of Mikel Delzangles' colt on the Rowley Mile, and is likely to be suited by this quicker surface. Parish Hall is feared most.

EMULOUS ran out a cosy winner of this contest 12 months ago and will be strongly fancied to go in again. Since that victory, the daughter of Dansili has won another Group 3 prize at Fairyhouse and, more recently, the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown in September. She should prove difficult to beat on her seasonal reappearance despite having to concede weight all round. Alanza also boasts winning form in this company and rates the biggest threat on her first start since finishing sixth in the Group 1 Chariot Stakes at Newmarket some eight months ago, while British raiders Law Of The Range and Winter's Night may not quite be up to winning, but both have solid each-way claims.
Alanza could have more to offer this season, but Emulous will take the world of beating if resuming in the same form as when sweeping past her rivals to land the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown in September. Law of The Range can pick up minor place money back on a more suitable surface.

British imports Gunner Lindley and Sweet Lightning appear to have settled into new surroundings really well this year but the former might ideally prefer some rain and the latter, who won last year's Lincoln when with Michael Dods, may be vulnerable to something less exposed. Preference is for progressive miler CROI AN OR, who has been raised 2lb for his narrow victory at Killarney two weeks ago and should be open to further improvement off his present rating. Last year's winner Super Say (6lb higher now) and a rejuvenated Billyford, now back on turf, are others considered.
Sweet Lightning run as well as could be expected back from a 13-month absence in a Group 3 race on return this month, and can defy top-weight here. Gunner Lindley could prove most troublesome, though the unexposed Croi An Or is also accorded plenty of respect.

CHICAGO might not have achieved a great deal when winning a Cork maiden earlier this month but he was certainly aesthetically pleasing there and an initial handicap mark of 83 looks workable. Sindjara landed a Dundalk maiden on her final run last year and she is very interesting on her first foray into handicap company with considerable improvement possible. Van Rooney and Madhmoonah also command respect as they make their respective handicap debuts. The latter lowered the colours of Wading here last summer and should prove ideally suited by returning to this shorter trip.
Sindjara looks the type to progress as a 3-y-o, but she shapes as though a stiffer test would be ideal, and may find Chicago, who has race-fitness on his side, too strong here. Captain Joy and Oh Happy Days can do battle for minor honours.
