LORD SHANAKILL should prove a cut above these rivals. This Group 1 winner hasn't been disgraced in two starts at the highest level so far this year and a drop back to Listed company ought to see him regain the winning thread. Ashram won readily on his latest start in this grade at Newbury in September last year and he looks the most likely danger, while Bow Beaver made light work of landing a conditions race at Hamilton last time out and cannot be ruled out from the foot of the weights.
Ashram is better than he showed on his reappearance and can bounce back to winning ways with that run under his belt. Lord Shanakill will appreciate this slight drop in class and is another to consider, whilst Dunelight warrants respect despite his penalty.

KING'S MASQUE has finished in the first two on his last six visits to the racecourse (winning three) and, having scored under today's rider at Ffos Las in May, he looks a solid bet this afternoon. Snow Dancer defied odds of 40-1 to score gamely at Haydock last time and she cannot be underestimated here. Richard Ford's Inspirina was declared to run here yesterday evening and has to enter the reckoning if taking his chance again.
Dark Ranger still looks on a good mark and, despite flopping last time, he's taken to add to his tally. King's Masque is thriving at present and can go well once more, whilst Dragon Slayer is another to consider.

BORDERLESCOTT is taken to follow up last year's success in this race. Robin Bastiman's stable star simply doesn't know how to run a bad race and has reached the frame in Group company in each of his three starts so far this year. He goes on any ground and will prove tough to beat from the inside draw this afternoon. Glamorous Spirit just got the better of Reverence at the Curragh almost two weeks ago but the latter is entitled to strip fitter now and can reverse placings, while past C&D winner Hamish McGonagall makes up the shortlist.
Borderlescott has a good record in this race and his last 2 starts have confirmed that he retains all his ability, so he looks the one to be on here, particularly as he's got stall 1 to aid his cause. Captain Dunne and Glamorous Spirit appeal as the biggest dangers.

Twice a winner in South Africa, MONTE CAVALLO is fancied to land his first success on British soil today. He produced his best effort since joining the Michael Wigham stable when third over 1m2f at Newmarket last time (fourth has won since) and this longer trip should be to his advantage. Simonside did well to get within one length of subsequent winner Lady Eclair at Newcastle latest and he could give the selection most to think about, while Arab League receives weight from the aforementioned pair and cannot be ruled out with any confidence.
Simonside ran into a sharp improver at Newcastle last time and, although he is up in the weights as a result, he can provide his in-form stable with another winner. Theola could be the one to chase him home.

EARL WIND made a promising start to his racing career when runner-up behind a well regarded sort from the Richard Fahey stable at Musselburgh almost two weeks ago and, with improvement expected, he can go one better today. An entry in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York next month suggests that he has been impressing in his homework. Welsh Inlet has improved in each of her three starts to date and could ask most questions, while Tilliemint ran a fine race at Carlisle last time and won't be without support again.
Earl Wild is much respected after his promising debut at Musselburgh but there's plenty of speed inside him and he may be forced to race wider than ideal. For that reason Welsh Inlet, who has improved with each run and has a handy draw, is preferred. Crimson Knot has place prospects for all a longer trip will suit.

My One Weakness' comeback fifth at Newcastle last month is sure to have blown any cobwebs away (first run since September last year) and he looks a lively outsider from the bottom end of the weights today, but TYFOS just gets the nod. He has been knocking on the door in similar races recently and William Carson takes a handy 3lb off his back this afternoon. Legal Eagle has been in fine form recently and should give another good account of himself providing the application of cheekpieces doesn't have a negative effect.

Mick Channon's colt MEJD recorded his second win of the year over 1m at Beverley in good style recently. A rise of 3lb by the handicapper should keep him in the frame this afternoon. Nubar Boy looked like getting somewhere near his best when tried with a first time visor at Ripon. He finished second that day and with the headgear staying on today, he may well be able to build upon that effort. Another Magic Man scored over a furlong extra at this track last month and makes up the shortlist.
A tricky finale where much depends on whether the well-handicapped Nubar Boy can reproduce his form away from Ripon. With that uncertain, the vote goes to C&D winner Another Magic Man. Mejd also comes here on the back of a victory and may give John Best's runner most to do.
