DU SOLEIL looked to have a bright future when taking a bumper in impressive fashion at Haydock in November 2015 and connections appear to have adopted a patient approach with him. The son of Zambezi Sun comes from a family which includes dual Betfair Hurdle winner Geos and the notable French sire Kapgarde, so he makes appeal on breeding. Bardd needs to have improved a fair amount from his lacklustre hurdles debut run at Sandown but does look the only credible threat. Admiral Kid should appreciate the return to 2m, having taken a tired fall at Fakenham over further last time.

CONSTANTINE BAY showed a good attitude to see off Brio Conti on his racecourse debut at Haydock over the fixed brush-style obstacles and can only improve from that performance now back over conventional hurdles. Prime Venture has shown a fair level of form in two starts to date and should improve for the step up in distance, while Smoking Dixie was clearly not right at Aintree behind Robin Roe and is likely to take a big step forward. Affaire D'honneur will likely be fancied for a contest of this nature but hasn't looked particularly trustworthy of late.
