AMERICAN TOM justified all the hype when readily seeing off the smart Gangster, who has finished second again since, on his chasing bow at Punchestown. The only negative that day was the tendency to jump slightly left at his fences and going the opposite way round will suit him much better. Some Plan would have gone very close to winning a Grade 2 prize at Cheltenham but for a crashing fall two out and hopefully that won't have knocked his confidence, while the Gigginstown duo Road To Respect and Stone Hard are certainly no mugs either. All in all, a cracking little event and Willie Mullins could win it for the fourth time in the last eight years.

VELOCITY BOY returned to form when second in a beginners chase at Down Royal on St Stephens Day and is expected to improve on that performance now moving into a handicap. He won by 11 lengths off 4lb lower over hurdles last spring to suggest he could be feasibly weighted.
