GUNNER FIFTEEN made an impressive start to life under Rules when hacking up at Uttoxeter last month. If he produces a similar display on his first look at the smaller obstacles, he will be tough to stop. Morito Du Berlais got to within five lengths of the smart Doctor Harper (now rated 140 over hurdles) on his debut and could improve now switching codes, while Carole's Destrier looked the winner when falling last time and completes the shortlist.

BALLYTOBER lost little in defeat when giving way in the closing stages on his chase debut, and, as that was his first run of the season, he is entitled to improve and gain compensation here. Midnight Prayer may be slightly flattered by his 19-length margin of victory at Stratford as his main rival unseated at the last, but it was an impressive start to his chasing career nonetheless, while Samingarry also got off on the right foot over the bigger obstacles and completes the shortlist.

SAUSALITO SUNRISE shaped as if an extended three miles would suit when third in a competitive race at Cheltenham last month, and with five lengths separating him and the fourth-placed horse, he looks to have the class necessary to take this. Pamplona Run originally fetched 95,000 euros and won two points so he is considered a big danger on his debut under Rules, while Kris Spin was narrowly denied on his reappearance and looks a prime contender too.

It could pay to side with the returning HAWKES POINT as he ventures into handicap company for the first time. He posted three solid efforts in novice/beginners' chase company before pulling up in the four-miler at the Cheltenham Festival last season. He remains open to stacks of improvement and could potentially turn into a leading contender for races such as the Welsh National this term. The Druids Nephew was fancied when getting no further than the first fence at Newbury last week and could bounce back to form providing the experience hasn't dented his confidence, while Mountainous is rarely far away and could also figure.

C&D winner Mountainous made a highly satisfactory return at Bangor last month and looks sure to be in the shake-up, but he is more at home when the mud is even deeper, so preference is for De La Bech, who remains capable of better over fences and will be a lot sharper for his recent comeback. A few look to have chances here, so LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN receives what is only a tentative vote. The five-year-old son of Flemensfirth appears to be improving all the time and although the handicapper continues to punish him, there could be a lot more in the locker yet. Moorlands Mist posted a career-best performance when fourth on his comeback run at Exeter last month and commands respect, having won and been placed in two previous visits here. He's The Daddy, Royal Native and Westaway complete the shortlist.

Evan Williams seemingly targets this race having won the 2011 and 2012 renewals so, for that reason, his TIMESAWASTIN edges the vote. A triple winner over timber, there has been plenty of promise to take from both of his chase starts thus far and he wouldn't need to improve too much on those efforts to deliver the goods. Smoking Aces posted a number of solid efforts when in the care of Tom Taaffe and warrants plenty of respect on his first outing for Jonjo O'Neill, while Special Account, Big News and Thunderstorm are others to note in a competitive event.
