CRIQ ROCK was a high-class bumper performer last season, winning twice before finishing mid-division in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in March, and with a clear round of jumping on his hurdling/seasonal debut, he could prove difficult to beat. Charlemar was bought for 150,000 euros following his bumper victory at Le lion'd'angers in May and Harry Whittington spoke about him in glowing terms in a recent stable tour. He is expected to take close order on his British/hurdles introduction while Willoughby Court, Air Horse One and Lisheen Prince add further spice to the race. All in all, a cracking opener and well worth setting the skyplus for.

Alf 'n' Dor is a solid performer and the form of his hurdles/seasonal debut third at Warwick looks pretty strong with the winner and fourth both scoring since, but a chance is taken on Belharbour point-to-point scorer DINGO DOLLAR. He was snapped up by Alan King's team for 50,000 pounds shortly after that gritty success in February and has reportedly impressed the master of Barbury Castle in his homework since. The four-year-old is fancied to play a leading role on his NH debut although chances are also given to Druid's Folly, Bim Bam Boum, Libby T Valance and Libby T Valance.

The form of Vinegar Hill's wins earlier in the year have not worked out all that well and he needs to find some improvement to defy his new mark in this deeper event. EATON HILL gave a useful sort plenty to think about when he finished second at Ffos Las back in March and he should be thereabouts if repeating that effort again today. Black Mischief and Ramonex also showed ability on their respective debuts and have to be respected this afternoon. That said, the main danger could prove to be Sumkindofking, who was an impressive point-to-point winner earlier in the year and connections had to part with 70,000 pounds to secure him in April.
