SPIRIT OF ROME has shown a good aptitude for jumping on both her starts to date at Fontwell, when runner-up, and Hereford, when finishing third. Harry Whittington has his string in good form and she is expected to get off the mark at the third attempt. Sin Sin was third at Ludlow against the older horses and looks a threat against her own age group, while Shine Baby Shine rates best of the remainder.
SIN SIN stepped up on her hurdle debut when third at Ludlow a couple of weeks ago and can make the long journey up from Nigel Hawke's Devon base worthwhile. Fellow Southern raider Spirit of Rome is likely to provide the main threat ahead of Shine Baby Shine.

THE LAST DAY created a good impression when winning a maiden hurdle at Chepstow in November but clearly looked ill at ease on the ground when finishing last of three behind Mont Des Avaloirs at Aintree in December. The step up in trip and racing on slightly better ground can see the son of Oscar return to winning form. Sam's Gunner showed decent improvement when runner-up to Hear No Evil over C&D and would be a big player on that form. Scheu Time can get the better of the remainder, which includes the wayward What's The Scoop who makes his first start for Sue Smith.
SAM'S GUNNER made a pretty useful sort work quite hard when runner-up in a C&D novice on last month's return from a year off, and on that evidence, he is capable of going one better. The Last Day was disappointing last time and has a penalty to carry, but he is still a player, while it will be interesting to see what Sue Smith can do with What's The Scoop.

KANSAS CITY CHIEF was well backed seven days ago before scoring with ease at Doncaster and it isn't the biggest of surprises to see him turned out so quickly here for Neil Mullholland. James King's 5lb claim helps to offset most of the punishment and the well-treated nine-year-old should be hard to beat here. Niceandeasy remains open to improvement and should appreciate this step up in trip after being outpaced over shorter here last time, while Dark Sunset represents a handler enjoying an excellent season and has to be respected.
KANSAS CITY CHIEF took apart a big field in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster a week ago and holds strong follow-up claims under a penalty. Planet Nine hasn't made a smooth transition to hurdling, but he's a well-bred dual bumper winner who is surely better than his current mark, so he is second choice.

Tommy The Rascal was far from disgraced when third over the extended 2m7f at Huntingdon last time and could also play a prominent role.

DERRYNANE romped to a 10-length victory over the extended 1m7f here last month and if this step up in trip can spark some immediate improvement, he has every chance of following up under a penalty. Perseid returned to form when third over the extended 2m2f at Market Rasen last time and is capable of playing a supporting role, while Flying Verse, sporting first-time cheekpieces, may similarly take a hand.
In a race where the majority have questions to answer it's very hard to ignore the claims of DERRYNANE who scored readily over 2m here last week and should have little difficulty following up under a penalty if turning up in similar form. Toarmandowithlove could perhaps be the one for the forecast spot.
