STELLAR SPIRIT is not well in at the weights but has shown good improvement on his last two starts and gets the vote. Michael Halford's gelding stepped up on previous efforts when third at Gowran earlier this month and was slightly unlucky not to win a big-field handicap over a mile at the Curragh on Saturday after being checked in his run over a furlong out. The quick reappearance and being unproven on easy ground are other possible negatives but, nonetheless, the unexposed 3-year-old looks to have a good chance dropped into claiming company. Long-standing maiden Knight Of Malta went close at Listowel last week but his trainer probably has better prospects with Stately Home who was also runner-up at the Harvest Festival. The grey, who had previously shown ability on all-weather surfaces, chased home Mutasarref having been well-backed and is the one to beat on ratings. Flyin Hawaiian was slowly away when a staying-on fifth in a Fairyhouse handicap and should appreciate the extra furlong here.

Colin Keane won on NAVORROSSE at Cork in June and was also on board when Pat Fahy's mare was third in a course and distance claimer the following month. The daughter of Worthadd has put in two more solid placed efforts this month and looks to have a good chance of registering a second career victory. The locally-trained Basrah Breeze was beaten just over a length here last month and will benefit from the 7lb claim of her promising apprentice. Topweight Mokhalad has come down a lot in the ratings and the six-time winner has shown glimpses of his old form this summer. Although held by the selection on Galway form earlier this month, a reproduction of his third to Imposing Supreme at the same venue in August would give him every chance. It's all of six years since Sahreej last got his head in front but he's come back to a bit of form of late and might not be far away.

After eleven months out of action, PIMSTREL was a good second at Gowran Park earlier this month and was a few pounds ahead of the handicapper when making all for an emphatic win at Listowel three days later. Jarlath Fahey's mare is not resting on her laurels and makes another fairly quick turnaround, but she's well-drawn for a prominent racer and any softening of the ground will add to her chance of defying a career-high mark. Skontonovski was unable to land a blow behind the selection last time but had won his previous two races and a return to form wouldn't be a surprise. Blankiedoodie is a course and distance winner and the form of his third here last month looks all the better after runner-up Miss Florentine's two recent victories. Crystal Dawn ran well in a higher grade at this venue in July and went close on the all-weather on her penultimate start. She's one to consider but wouldn't want easy ground, while Mater Matuta has been running well over hurdles but this trip looks too short for Colin Keane's mount.

SPECIAL POWER was unfortunate not to get off the mark at Tipperary last month and can go one better. Andy Slattery's charge hung left across the track, and lost a few lengths in the process, when collared close home by Money Tree. The visor utilised on that occasion is left off and it's not the greatest surprise in the world to see that he's been gelded in the interim. His second to subsequent Listed winner Head Mistress on his penultimate start further illustrates his claims of making the breakthrough here. Takana has a bit to find with the selection on ratings although her rider's claim will help in that regard. The Equiano filly has shown plenty of speed on her last two starts and dropping to the minimum distance should suit better than the six furlongs over which she was third at Dundalk. One would presume Leigh Roche has chosen barrier trial runner-up El Magnifique ahead of tongue-tied stablemate Sacred Territory and he is a newcomer to respect along with Moe Sedway, who has the champion jockey on board.

TIDE OF TIME has been placed on his last two visits to this track and get his reward. He was beaten a neck here (when stumbling in the final furlong) in August by That's Mad who gave the form a hefty boost when obliging in the Joe McGrath Premier Handicap at the Curragh on Sunday. Hathiq was behind Tide Of Time in fourth in that contest, and has since won by a nose in Navan. He rates a threat if handling this track better this time. Dandy Spirit was a couple of lengths behind Tide Of Time in third in that aforementioned race and has been dropped 4lb by the handicapper. Cut in the ground won't be in his favour, though. Anthony McCann runs two horses and his Indian Raj has place claims.

VINLAND could be a shade of each-way value against the principals. Joseph O'Brien's charge made progress in the final furlong to come home sixth over a similar trip in Roscommon. There could be more to come from him on his third start. His stablemate Zaynudin has strong claims with a rating of 82. He has been placed on all three starts (two for Michael Halford and one for O'Brien) and wouldn't need to find much more to make the breakthrough. CASK MATE is a former wide-margin bumper winner who is highly rated over hurdles. He is an interesting contender in his first race on the Flat coming off a break since February. Colin Keane gets the leg up from Noel Meade. Acleanpairofhooves won his bumper in Kilbeggan after a battle with the runner-up. He is a son of former Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi, so you can see the reasoning behind switching to a Flat maiden. He is a worthy opponent. Stay Thinking ran his best race to date when runner-up over an extended nine furlongs at Clonmel. This is a new trip for him. Victory Road can only be watched after such a lengthy absence but is in good hands and is related to plenty of winners.
