Field Surveyor got home by a neck in similar company last time while Vicar's Belle was second in similar. They should be thereabouts but may struggle to cope with CANDY CLOUDS. Her career has been very much stop-start but she's used to taking on much tougher opponents. She's the quickest of these on dirt and over this trip and should taking all the beating here.
The well-bred Brightanz My Heart has the favoured inside draw but steps up in class and tackles turf for the first time. Badgett At Night is as quick of any of these but has had plenty of chances in similar company and is passed over in favour of NIPSY'S CLASSIC. She wasn't a long way away in third in a similar contest last time and should have the edge over this slightly longer trip.
Talverna and Bai And Bai won $40k allowance races last time and have earned their places in this contest. Come On Margaret takes a huge step up in class for her third start but showed plenty of pace to win with ease and could be something special. Sierra Sweetie looks a star in the making after scooting home in a $100k on just her third start but she takes a big step up in trip here and may have to play second fiddle to I CAN SEE, who has raced in Grade company and was an impressive 9l winner in a similar contest over an extended mile last month.
CALAMITY GIRL put up a cracking performance on her debut when she attracted plenty of support. After duelling all the way, she was beaten a neck at the finish. She should go one better here with the speedy Heartbreaker likely to fill the second spot.
Final Finale just got the better of Sharpster and Hotel Hall in a slightly easier race last time. The trio should be in the shake-up here but it's worth taking a chance on the race fitness of BOSS EGO, whose fifth in a tougher race last month was just his second start this year. But last year he turned in a string of top performances, including a win in a $50,000 optional claimer. There are signs he might be recapturing that form.
More Romance has plenty of pace on turf and was a close second in a similar race on dirt last time. He should go close. In Other Words had RED MIMI more than two lengths behind in third when second in a similar contest over an extended mile here last month. But the latter had the better of it until weakening close home. Over this shorter trip, over which she's clocked the fastest time, she should be able to reverse the places and score here.
First Allied wasn't too far away against much tougher company last time and has the speed to get involved in the finish. Thunder Lady is the fastest of these on dirt and was a close second in similar. She should be thereabouts again but preference is for NUCAYA, the fastest over this trip. Second in a much tougher race last time, she has the help of blinkers today and that should give her the edge.
EL SIERRA TAHOE is the fastest of these on turf and over this trip but she's been well beaten on her two starts to date. However, she takes a big drop in class today and, with top jockey Russell Baze aboard for the first time, can be given another chance to open her account. Family Talents, third in similar on dirt last time, and Chulla Bel, second in this grade latest, can fight out the minor honours.
Emanon won a $20k maiden claimer on his debut and has every chance here if fully fit after a four-month lay-off. Private Capote scored his second success in four starts with victory over C&D last month and is the fastest of these. But in this tricky contest, the vote just goes to LATIN WAY, who was a comprehensive winner on his debut here last month. He should come on for the run and might just have the edge here.
