This looks to chiefly concern Ice Maker and BOLD CORREDOR, who have some decent form in similar contests. The latter, however, won a $19k claimer three starts ago, form that should prove good enough to land this. East Face, who has some decent form against better company, looks best of the rest.
Tactical and Bella Trella have both gone close in better quality races and should be thereabouts again, but it's worth taking a chance on FLASHY FACTS, who faded late over 7f here in a much better contest last time. Down in class and trip and open to plenty of improvement after just three starts, she could land this.
BROADWAY AL sets a decent standard for the remainder to aim at and it will be a little disappointing if he fails to go one better than when second over course and distance three weeks ago. Bear Most Wanted is an interesting newcomer who has been showing up well in training, while Dublin Lane looks progressive.
The consistent Kingsgate Bay won a $32k claimer over 5f here latest but has something to find in this grade. Devil In Space has been running in similar contests but also has something to find, so preference is for PUT UPON, not the most consistent but a winner in this grade three starts ago and boasting a fine strike-rate.
It's difficult to oppose the progressive VERDANA BOLD here. A winner of four of her six starts, she followed up victory in a $150k race over 6f here with success over a route in a Grade 3. She could complete the hat trick tonight. Passion, a Grade 3 winner at Santa Anita two starts ago, looks the danger, while the unexposed Clear The Ice landed a $66k maiden special weight last time but has more to find here.
Matt's Broken Vow just got the better of Bonanza in a Grade 3 over a similar trip here some three weeks ago and both seem likely to be involved in the finish again, but there might be some value to be had by following CATCH AIR who returns to dirt after recording a career-best performance on turf last time out.
ATHENA'S GIFT just managed to get up over a mile here last month and can follow up this afternoon with today's extra yardage expected to suit. The twice-raced Saffron Rose would be unbeaten but for being disqualified on her debut here last September, but the lack of a recent run might just find her out. La Gran Ruby has been running well lately and could be of interest for each-way purposes.
The hat-trick-seeking GINGER BREW appears to be firmly on an upward curve and will take a lot of stopping if reproducing recent efforts. Shilla is also on a hat trick and cannot be readily dismissed, while Gloriously has done little wrong in three starts and looks good each-way value.
GUN HIGHWAY displayed his current well-being when scoring in a similar race here last time and Slade Callaghan's mount is taken to complete a double. Diamond Tree has claims on his best form while three-time course winner Rumbling Cloud is another to consider.
