Improvement is more than likely in the case of La Belle Bear as the filly makes her second start for trainer Steve Asmussen. SMOOTH DECISION, however, continues to hold her form well and will appreciate the slight drop back in trip, while Sierra Morena is the pick of the others.
ARTIE HOT has finished placed on each of his last six starts, including two C&D successes. The seven-year-old gelding is in the form of his career and is tough to oppose in this claimer. Elsewhere, Quinzee can get competitive on his best form, while Keep Six looks best of the others.
SCHOOL GIRL appears to have relished the transition to the Sid Attard barn and the mare can continue to go from strength to strength. Fantastic Cousin has threatened a big run and should be considered closely, along with Pretty Miss Trippi, who is nothing if not consistent.
A open looking maiden to solve but it could pay to side with IS THIS A SECRET, who can benefit from having had a couple of race experiences. This 6f trip appeared ideal on her last outing, when only beaten narrowly, although with I'm A Sinner and Extremist in opposition, the daughter of Put It Back isn't likely to have it all her own way.
DELIGHTFUL MAGIC appeals most of these, despite finishing well beaten at Saratoga in August. The daughter of Mineshaft is set to appreciate this step up to 7f and is worth keeping on side in the build-up to this maiden. Of the others, Marcian and and Psycho Chick are the most likely dangers.
Proutes was a winner on debut here in August but this step up in class could prove one too far and, for that reason, a chance is taken on HIGHLANDDIXIEBELLE, who continues to finish in the frame in similar company. A victory over the extended 5f would suggest this step up in trip should be no problem, but keep an eye on Game Prospect who can also get serious.
Plenty in with chances, but preference is for CAPTAIN CANUCK. Following victory in a $68k maiden special weight, he's run with credit in valuable stakes races here and at Fort Erie and should prove too good now dropped down to this grade. Casual Dude, winner of a $50k claimer recently, looks the danger but My Bad and J J For Dave shouldn't be far away either.
Difficult to see beyond EMBUR'S SONG for the answer to this. The winner of her last four starts, including two Grade 3 successes here, she acts over sprint and route trips and should have too much class for these rivals. Valli With A Vow and Atlantic Hurricane can fight out the minor placings.
QUICK SPLIT has turned in some good efforts without really threatening to break her duck, but she takes a big drop in class tonight and could get her head in front at the ninth time of asking. Firstimage struggled latest but looks open to plenty of improvement and could be the one for the exacta, while Ghost Time might not be too far away.
BURMAH STAR has been knocking on the door in similar contests of late. She only went down by a neck over C&D latest and can go one better tonight. Jenny's Magic was third in this grade but Turn To Shine, back in fifth when fancied on her debut, makes more appeal and can chase the selection home.
