Amore Alato shaped with plenty of promise on his hurdling/seasonal debut at Chepstow and warrants plenty of respect with McCoy taking over in the saddle, but SGT RECKLESS is potentially a class above. Mick Channon's gelding was sent to both the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals last season after recording impressive bumper wins both here and at Lingfield (on the Polytrack), and he certainly has the scope to jump a hurdle. Dual bumper scorer Heath Hunter must be given a chance, while Money For Nothing and Beaujolais add further spice to the event.

Top Tip: Sgt Reckless (10)
Watch out for: Amore Alato (1)

Amore Alato shaped well on his hurdling debut at Chepstow and seems certain to progress further, but there's every chance Heath Hunter can make a winning start over hurdles and take his record to 3 from 3. Paul Nicholls has a good recent record in this event and Very Noble is also worth considering.

O'Callaghan Strand should give a good account lining up off the same mark as when third on his seasonal reappearance at Exeter, but a chance is taken on PLEIN POUVOIR. The C&D scorer has slipped back down to his last winning mark and represents a Venetia Wiiliams stable that burst into life last weekend. Taffy Thomas made a promising return to action when chasing home impressive winner Mister Grez at Ffos Las and he cannot be ruled out, while Upton Mead and Be Definite also hold claims.

A red-hot mares' handicap, in which CALL ME STAR is fancied to emerge victorious for the in-form Alan King stable. The six-year-old simply doesn't know how to run a bad race and she has gone well fresh on a number of occasions in the past. Utopie Des Bordes is 7lb worse off than when beating the selection at Doncaster in February but she has progressed since and should be to the fore once more, while As I Am notched up a four-timer during the summer and there is no telling if she has stopped progressing yet.

Melodic Rendezvous unfortunately had to sidestep all the big spring festivals last season due to matters beyond his control but he was mightily impressive when brushing aside the high-class Puffin Billy in Listed company when last seen (in February) and should mount a bold bid on his return. However, FAR WEST edges the vote in receipt of 4lb. His sole defeat in the UK came when chasing home Our Conor in the Triumph Hurdle and defying a 239-day absence isn't too much of a concern as he dotted up first time out at Chepstow last term. Karinga Dancer appears to be improving all the time, while Cotton Mill is very good on his day and Ahyaknowyerself produced a career-best performance when bolting up in Listed company at Market Rasen.

Watch out for: Melodic Rendezvous (1)

A really good renewal of this Grade 2 handicap. Melodic Rendezvous and Karinga Dancer likely have even more to offer, but Cotton Mill showed his ability to go well fresh when chasing home My Tent Or Yours in the Betfair Hurdle on his reappearance last term and gets a narrow vote.

STANDING OVATION showed staying is his forte when beating Highland Lodge at this track last month and though he's been raised 10lb for that effort, he still gets in here off a feather weight and could be tough to stop. Alan King appears to hold the biggest danger, as Pantxoa has been thoroughly progressive of late and returns to handicap company after a decent second at Cheltenham, though Paul Nicholls' duo of Aiteen Thirtythree and Poungach both merit respect at the top of the weights. Masters Hill won nicely over timber at Exeter, but is not obviously well treated for his handicap chase debut.

Watch out for: Pantxoa (4)

Always a very useful and highly competitive handicap. The progressive Standing Ovation gets in here at the foot of the weights and is taken to provide David Pipe with a third winner in the last 7 runnings, though there are plenty of dangers, headed by Court By Surprise and Pantxoa.

There was no fluke about Third Intention's Cheltenham success when he gained the scalp of Rebel Fitz and Colin Tizzard's inmate warrants close consideration. WONDERFUL CHARM impressed when making his seasonal bow at Fakenham, though, and Paul Nicholls' lightly-raced five-year-old beat two useful form yardsticks in Bear's Affair and King Of The Night. Not able to land a blow when taking his chance in the World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last season, the Grade 2 winner has a touch of class about him and is open to any amount of improvement over the larger obstacles. Meister Eckhart and Fox Appeal complete the quartet and can't be dismissed lightly either.

Watch out for: Third Intention (1)

A corking contest despite just 4 runners, and none of the quartet can be ruled out. Wonderful Charm jumped impeccably when winning at Fakenham, and looks the pick, for all Third Intention's experience will be a useful asset.
