Verdict

Enfin Phil won a hurdle in France but struggled at Hexham on his UK debut, which may not bode well for Defi Sacre, who won a chase in the French provinces in the spring. Eclat De Star fared well on his first outing on these shores when second at Sedgefield last time, but preference is for IMPERIAL ACOLYTE. Nigel Twiston-Davies' gelding won easily on his hurdling bow over C&D last time and the form has been franked since.

TOP VILLE BEN had shown some jumping issues over timber last term, falling in two of his last three starts over the smaller obstacles, but he showed no such issues over fences at Hexham and could be capable of defying a penalty here. Uppertown Prince is an obvious danger on his fourth in Grade 1 company over timber at Aintree, but his chasing debut was less encouraging, while Red Rising is progressing steadily over fences.

Individual Race Printouts

Travel Lightly won with some authority at Catterick last month, but was firmly put in her place when stepped up to Listed company at Aintree last time. Any support for Flegmatik on his UK debut for Dan Skelton would probably be worth heeding, but LAST ENCHANTMENT showed enough on her hurdling bow at Newcastle to be given a chance here. Rated in the 70s on the Flat, she was a promising fourth on her debut for Neil Mulholland at Newbury and could build on that.

Longhousesignora is open to progress now up in distance after a couple of decent efforts over fences this season, while Sheneededtherun may benefit from his second run after a wind operation having finished runner-up at Hereford earlier this month.
