CLONDAW FLICKA showed a likeable attitude when striking on just his second chase start at Doncaster and, open to considerable further improvement, he is fancied to defy a 6lb rise. Shouldavboughtgold is 2lb better off with Basford Ben for a two-length beating over course and distance and he should be able to reverse placings, while Dukeofchesterwood could run into a place again.

Watch out for: Shouldavboughtgold (4)

If there's one obviously progressive type in this line-up it's Luncinda Russell's Clondaw Flicka, who is taken to follow up last month's Doncaster success. Mr Supreme should strip fitter for last month's return at Newcastle and is a possible threat along with recent C&D scorer Basford Ben.

Malcolm Jefferson is out to win this contest for the third season in a row and last year's hero Cape Tribulation warrants plenty of respect, but CLOUDY TOO shades the verdict. He impressed when landing a Listed event at Carlisle prior to a respectable effort in the Hennessy Gold Cup and Jonathan England's 5lb claim leaves him on a handy racing weight. Runaway Haydock scorer Sydney Paget also merits consideration.

Watch out for: Cape Tribulation (2)

Sydney Paget created a good impression when enhancing his upwardly mobile profile at Haydock last month and is likely to make a bold bid to shrug off his 13 lb rise, but Tullamore Dew deserves a decent prize after a string of valiant efforts in good staying handicaps, and is worth chancing to finally get the job done here. Alvarado may fare best of the rest.

The vote, however, goes to impressive recent course winner RATTLIN. Simply Wings is rarely too far from the mark and commands respect despite top-weight, but MISTER GREZ makes more appeal representing connections who landed The Ladbroke Hurdle last weekend. The Turgeon gelding is clearly a lot better than showing at Sandown last time and a repeat of his fourth behind the high class Balthazar King at Cheltenham previous to that would make him extremely difficult to beat. Tahiti Pearl also has a chance.
