MONARCH'S WAY struggled to find his feet in novice and maiden hurdle company, most notably at Leicester two starts ago when he slipped approaching the third and after hitting the last. He looked more assured, however, when scoring on his handicap debut at Taunton last month and an 8lb rise doesn't look enough to stop him going in again. A rejuvenated Marju King and bottom-weight Easydoesit complete the shortlist.
Quite a few worth considering in a trappy opener. Monarch's Way and Up To The Mark are easy to include on any shortlist and should go well, but preference is for Easydoesit, who has posted a couple of solid efforts at this venue in recent weeks and could be worth chancing to go one better.

A very competitive novices' chase for punters to solve and although disqualified in the stewards' room at Uttoxeter latest, it could be worth siding with COURT VICTORY. The Emma Lavelle charge displayed great character and determination to hold off the 126-rated Mister Hyde when first past the post and, entitled to have improved for his racecourse debut, the son of Old Vic is worth another look. Frascati Park and Alfie Spinner are also expected to make into useful chasers and must be considered closely.
Frascati Park needs to show he stays 3m, and the proven stamina of Alfie Spinner tips the balance in his favour. Court Victory is not dismissed having been first past the post at Uttoxeter on his chase debut.

Jamie Snowden's charge scored over this C&D on his only other start at the Midlands track and is clearly ahead of the assessor on what he has shown in recent times. Of the others, the hat-trick-seeking Educated Evans is one for the shortlist, while Back Bob Back is worth another look.
Marodima romped home at Fontwell on Thursday and a penalty won't stop him if he turns up here in the same form. The progressive Educated Evans could be the one to take advantage if the selection fails to live up to expectations.

If back to that sort of form he holds every chance today and is likely to be on offer at a generous price. Dorset Square, formerly with Willie Mullins, scored in a Listed event at Cheltenham when last sighted and must be considered closely, along with the hat-trick-seeking Water Garden.
Thehillofuisneach has a big rise in the weights to overcome but he bolted up twice in December and it will be surprising if there isn't more to come from him. He can get the better of another unexposed improver in Water Garden, with Brian Ellison's Simonside another to consider.

With no prior form to go on in the finale for newcomers, it should be worth keeping a close eye on the market for any clues but slight preference is for the well-bred HEAD SPIN. The gelded son of Beneficial is expected to stay the trip and represents the shrewd yard of Seamus Mullins, who is no stranger to getting one ready first time out. The booking of Noel Fehily is another positive but Le Bec and Mr Roberto are considered serious threats.
