AREA FIFTY ONE, rated as high as 105 on the Flat, should be up to opening his account over hurdles. He hasn't been seen since a fairly lacklustre effort in Listed company at Ascot in May, but he won impressively at Doncaster the time before that and is likely to have been the subject of a schooling session or two in preparation for this assignment. He finished a well-beaten sixth on his hurdling debut on Town Moor in January, but that was a hot novice hurdle contest and the drop into maiden company should help. Andi'amu and Indian Jack complete the shortlist.

Top Tip: Area Fifty One (3)
Watch out for: Andi'amu (2)

Area Fifty One shaped much better than the result on hurdling debut, and though he seemed amiss when last seen on the level in May, he could hardly be in better hands and can be expected to outclass this bunch. Indian Jack was no slouch on the Flat himself, with Andi'amu setting the standard over hurdles, but there to be shot at.

FILATORE would have to give Dr Dalwhinny 8lb if this were a handicap so he's taken to get the better of Donald McCain's charge off level weights. The son of Teofilo was beaten a long way on his latest start at Taunton, but that was in a competitive handicap and the drop back into maiden company should be to his liking. Minella Present brings some good bumper form to the table and wasn't without his supporters when last sighted at Wetherby in April, so he's feared most on his jumps bow.

Watch out for: Minella Present (6)

Filatore clearly wasn't 100% when disappointing at Taunton in February, and on the balance of his previous form ought to be thereabouts on this, his return to action. However, a more solid option may prove to be hurdling-newcomer Minella Present, who showed plenty of promise in bumpers, and hails from a yard in good order. Dr Dalwhinny also makes the shortlist.

AGAPANTHUS arrives at the top of his game and he should prove tough to beat under his 7lb penalty. A successful summer in Jersey was followed by a bloodless success at Newton Abbot and, in the hands of Tony McCoy, he will take plenty of stopping. Straits Of Messina didn't appear to get home over the extended 2m3f last time out and he is respected dropped back to a more suitable trip. Auto Mac ought to run well without winning.

It is no surprise to see Monday's Newton Abbot scorer Agapanthus turned out quickly under a penalty, and he gets the vote again partnered by Tony McCoy once more. Straits of Messina and Auto Mac are solid each-way alternatives.
