ELEGANTRIX sped to victory on debut over 1160m and would've come on for the experience. It may pay to follow her progress over this shorter trip that, on the evidence of her winning intro, should be right up her alley. GLASTONBURY confirmed the promise of her debut success with a good 2nd over track and trip after a break. She'll strip fitter and should have a role to play with improvement likely. BACK FROM WAR, BRIGHT AND BRAZEN and PRINCESS KEIRA (heavily supported on debut) ought to improve with the benefit of experience so could get involved. Watch the betting on newcomer GREEN DIAMOND.

Verdict

READ ALL ABOUT IT impressed when winning on debut and displayed a smart turn of foot to beat the re-opposing BINGO (3kg better off) by a margin of victory that probably flatters the runner-up. While the latter is weighted to pose more of a threat, it could pay to side with the former who would've come on appreciably with the benefit of that experience. Newcomers make up the rest of the field and the betting should provide clues to their chances on debut. Well-bred colt CONSTELLATION and fillies (with a 2.5kg sex allowance) ONE FINE WINTER and TINA LOVELACE appeal most of the first-timers.

Verdict

PARISIAN WALKWAY made all in Leg 1 of the SA Triple Crown in his first appearance as a gelding and there should be more to come from him. ARISTOTLE and LEGEND OF ARTHUR finished behind that rival last time but will appreciate this sterner test of stamina. Both should pose more of a threat and it may pay to side with the latter who was too far out of his ground last time but made eye-catching headway/progress. MAIN DEFENDER sets a lofty standard and is weighted to make a successful defence of his title. BARBARESCO is closely matched on the form of a recent 1400m meeting but unlikely to reverse the form on similar weight terms, especially over a course and distance that the former is undefeated. Verdict

DYCE was not disgraced at Kenilworth last month and has had time to recover from the trip. He can bounce back to score but he will be under pressure with many speedy sorts in the race. WILLIAM ROBERTSON is very consistent, won a nice race in KwaZulu-Natal last time out and is always a danger. GOLDEN SICKLE reserves her best for Gauteng and will not go down without a fight. MOUNT PILATUS has been much improved of late and would not be a surprise winner. KARATE KID did not show his best behind the very fast CHOCOLATE SOLDIER and both are capable of getting involved with the finish. DREAMLAND is consistent and can earn some more money.
