Modern Gentleman can confirm recent 1m superiority over Niccolo's Dancer, despite the drop in distance, but marginal preference is for PHARO'S GOLD. He didn't show a great deal in two starts last year but has his sights lowered considerably and is entitled to have improved over the winter months.
TASMANIAN TANNER was having her first start since the end of December when just reeled in close home over this track and trip earlier in the month and it would be no surprise to see her go one better this time. Few can be ruled out with confidence, but Hispania and Double Zado look the pick of the opposition.
CONGO CARAH bounced back to form with a creditable second to an impressive winner over this track and trip late last month and she holds the third-placed Majestic Woman on that piece of form. Holy Trick is shaped well in second here recently and is entitled to be sharper for that first run since December.
ULTIMINIO R. regained the winning thread over 5f here earlier in the month and is open to plenty of further improvement after six career starts. It's hoped he goes on again, rather than take a backward step as he seemed to do after scoring on debut last summer. Wildest Passion and Kela Dance also merit close attention.
YOUTHFUL AMBITION is taken to confirm recent course superiority over Gold Country but may have something to fear from Heroi Do Bafra this time. The latter finished only a place behind the selection on his penultimate start and will appreciate the drop back to sprinting having been tried over 1m subsequently.
FUNKY CHANTEAL has held her form fairly well in slightly stronger company since winning over the same track and trip last month and a drop back in grade should see her in a good light. Dress Blues has also been running well in defeat since scoring in December, while last-time-out winner Ranaway Fay completes the shortlist.
A return to form could see Saint Barr get involved but he has failed to fire of late and a chance is taken on PERFECTIONISM, who clocked a decent speed figure when far from disgraced here last time. In a bad race, Tarage rates best of the rest.
River Slaney had a few of these behind when winning last time but this represents a marked drop in class for PRAIRIE ACADEMY and she gets the nod. Fairaway and Hot Citizen are others to enter calculations.
AUBREY'S REVENGE stands out as the lightly-raced improver following her fairly impressive 6f success here last month and any improvement for the step back up to this slightly longer trip will make her very tough to beat. Hello Harriet looks to have found her level and trip following a recent second here, while Nat The Brat is also respected in this company.
