CROWNING JEWEL boosts rock-solid form and will be fancied to land today's opener. He readily beat Bury Parade (who has won twice since) in a bumper here in October and the form of his third over hurdles at Catterick last time was given a massive boost with the winner, Bourne, landing a competitive handicap hurdle at Ascot on Saturday (second has also won two races since). South Leinster wasn't disgraced behind subsequent Grade 2 winner Brindisi Breeze at Newcastle and rates the biggest threat, while Big Occasion has questions to answer after his disappointing Huntingdon effort.
Crowning Jewel was useful in bumpers and he has shown enough in a couple of spins over hurdles to think he would be winning sooner rather than later. South Leinster and Big Occasion could give him most to think about.

BRIXEN makes the long trek up north from from Barry Brennan's Lambourn stable and could reap the rewards. She has emerged with plenty of credit in two starts over fences thus far and this represents a drop in class. Alora Money won a maiden hurdle race at this venue in October '09 and there is every chance that she will strip fitter for her comeback run at Market Rasen last month. First-time blinkers could help her bounce back to form, while Classical Mist is worthy of consideration tackling fences for the first time.
Brixen boasts the best form and is proven in testing conditions, so ought to break her duck over fences. Streamtown looks next best, although Overyou comes from chasing stock, and is interesting on her first try over fences.

It could pay to side with DUSKY BOB in what looks a competitive handicap. Brian Ellison's versatile gelding has clocked up wins over both hurdles and fences this term and the form of his second at Huntingdon last time looks rock solid with first and third both winning since. Quinte Du Chatelet appeared to benefit from the application of cheekpieces (worn again today) when making all to win easily at Hereford last time and should go well off an 11lb higher mark here, while Grafite and hat-trick seeker Knockando complete the shortlist.
Gleann Na Ndochais seemed to find the step up to 3m just a bit too far last time but he travelled like a well-handicapped horse and can return to winning ways back at this trip. Knockando and Quinte du Chatelet may give him most to think about.

It's difficult to look past DIAMOND D'AMOUR with Paddy Brennan an eye-catching jockey booking. George Bewley's talented grey barely had to break into a sweat when making every yard of the running in a novices' hurdle over C&D in December and he arguably stepped up on that when chasing home subsequent winner Stormy Weather at Newcastle last time. If granted a soft lead again, he can make them all pay, leaving Willie Hall and Surprise Vendor to scrap out the minor placings.
Diamond d'Amour did well when second to subsequent winner Stormy Weather at Newcastle, and this C&D winner can outpoint his rivals. Willie Hall is respected back over hurdles, while the chief threat may well come from Knight Valliant, who is better than he has shown of late.
